How long do we keep on pounding on an open door,
creating obstacles, creating barriers where there
aren’t any… Like being shy when there’s no
need to be and thereby missing out on opportunities
that are possible and real…

Lots of love,

Vicky

I think that doors r always opened .. but what we need is to be brave enough to let ourselves in
sometimes we r afraid of the things behind doors , things we don’t understand because we haven’t been through it before

The mirror effect! What’s in the mirror?! an illusion?!
What if you look into a mirror that was made before the day you were born _ did you find that mirror you’re peeping into or is it the other way around, has the mirror found ‘its porpouse’ of existence?!
We and the universe are one, I agree with that!

When I knock on doors – or I make phonecalls – to the places where I’m supposed to be, the line is broken. If I call back a little later the attitude of the person I’m talking with is changed. It’s an impossible situation. I have spent a lot of money on getting nowhere.

Well, this time Nora took my place at the Queens table. I’m sure there will always be someone taking my place, my ideas,…. I have the police following me from day to day to give me tickets for this, that, and everything. I’ve been told that my life will be good when I’m in my sixties. Only 11 years to go.

“leo” is a website that provides dictionaries for german and a variety of other languages.
each winter they produce an electronic adventscalendar: each day, one can open a “little door” and finds a surprise. for 12/18, they show this story by Franz Hohler (* 1943):

The Mail Box

“I like to be a racing bicycle”, said the mail box to the garden door, “and racing through landscapes and high alpine passes.”

“You and your wishes”, said the garden door, “you do not even comply to the guidelines of the post office.”

“One can always have wishes”, said the mail box and continued to swallow bills, magazines, ads, and postcards.

Some time later, he was removed and replaced by a new one. one melted him together with old metal chairs, broken metal wires, bended screwdrivers to produce light steel; and he was sent to a factory making bicycle.
Soon, he raced through the landscapes, went over high alpine passes. he could not believe he had used to stay at one and the same location for all the time and almost suffocated from all the mail.

Arabë dhe Cifutë __by Paulo Coelho

Arabe dhe Cifute

Nje djali, Abin-Alsar i kapi veshi nje bisede mes te atit te tij dhe nje dervishi.
“Bej kujdes me punen tende”, i tha dervishi.

“Jeta qe perfundon me vdekje, eshte nje jete e cuar dem.”

Të mbulosh diellin me dorë

Nje dishepull shkoi tek Rabbi Nachman i Bratslav-it :

I wanted to post here my translation in Albanian, even though it is not a correct Albanian since when we write in internet we have to replace some characters since they don’t show.
Which is for example ë with e.

How long will you keep pounding on an open door?

Such a good question for me on this day after months of feeling shut out, pushing when the sign clearly says Pull, locking myself out because my mind is full of doubt.

How long? No longer. I am the open door.

Hi Jessica,

there is something wrong with the bible quote?
if one is alone and falls …. god is always there to help to get up …

I wish you very well for the future & for working on your dream :o)

My experience is it is worth it.
I started to work on a dream this spring. and it grows in a weird direction. not as I want to or need to (I need to get money for my own survival from this dream). but it grows. one effect of its growth is:
- I started it and felt alone & isolated. I only had a friend & paulo’s quotes on dreams that helped me.
- so far, I met so many people that I do not feel isolated anymore, and finally a came over my shyness and tendency to withdraw. I really believe that I get from “the outside” support; support of getting well, have energy, and things just develop.

good luck!
stay strong!
be open to the development in each step.
in this way, paulo is right: a door is open, but sometimes I am stubborn and want to go through that door that is still locked …. but not forever

Knock Knock! Who’s there? You. Yooo hooo?

I love opening doors. Much more fun than the open ones. But make sure you leave them open!

Hallowed

Tread steadily down these dark halls
with closed doors

The passage goes one way
Behind every door is death

Do not faulter!
Hesitation at the threshold
is your enemy
The unknown your gift

Be mindful of leaving the light on
Leave each door ajar when you depart

When you return
The halls will be brighter

Dear Jessica,

So sorry to hear you are experience trouble in the blog or online. We are supposed to have a good time together and support each other in this community. Please don’t you ever think you are crazy. Always trust your own perceptions. I will tell you, you are not the only one who find their emotions are being messed with here, if this is what’s your problem. It is easy to misunderstand each other, not communicating in person, where we can hear each others voices and see facial/bodily expressions, for one. Also, online as everywhere else, we are together for good and for bad, sharing our light and unfortunately sometimes our dark side too. You are doing the right thing pulling away from something causing you more negative than positive energy. I would do the same. Sometimes i do time outs, other times I leave certain circumstances for good. One thing is for sure, we should never take abuse, without doing something. It is society accepting abuse, encouraging abuse, rewarding abuse, including emotional abuse… that’s crazy.

Jessica, all my love and best wishes for you and your dream too. So sorry about your hurts sweet Jessica.

Love,
heart

This comes at the perfect time, it is just what I needed to hear. I am a big fan of Rumi , ” How long will you keep pounding on an open door. Begging for someone to open it.” I have been struggling with getting over a former love, and been contemplating taking a risk to find new love,,. whether it is worth it or not.. now i know I just need to open my heart to love,, and it will come. The door is already open :) love u paulo! thank you

“HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP POUNDING ON AN OPEN DOOR?”

It’s better not to waste our time pounding on an open door, but rather to go through it, and into the unknown!

At the Gate of the Year

I said to the man at the gate of the year
‘Give me light that I may tread safely into the unknown.’

And he replied,
‘Go into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God
That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way!’

So I went forth and finding the Hand of God
Trod gladly into the night
He led me towards the hills
And the breaking of day in the lone east

So heart be still!
What need our human life to know
If God hath comprehension?

In all the dizzy strife of things
Both high and low,
God hideth his intention.

Having read this here is what I feel and understand :

The time is certainly our ally in the understanding of our life on this earth and beings which surround us. The reason for knowing never perfectly does not remove the possibility of working to know. That’s why, is given to us the possibility to live several times the same situations. The repetition of certain things can become a rite when the spirit is got. If it’s the case, to which sends back to us this rite ? Do we consider him as heavy or reassuring ? It’s in ourselves that is the answer. So, our eyes see a door. We have at least two possibilities. Think that she’s or closed or opened.

A door is closed. Is she in front of us and we cannot enter ? Is she behind us and we cannot go out? What do we feel ? Action, reaction, slowness, which do we make ? Some will dare to push this door. Others will hesitate. Others else, will leave. The door is only the reflection of our way to consider us and to consider the outside world. It’s in the understanding of our glance, that the life offers itself as a real present. She suggests us the movement. In this way, what can seem difficult at some point, will be much better lived at the another moment. What is today what is not necessarily what will be tomorrow. If always showed us of the courage and the heart to hand our work.

If materially a door is big opened, our eyes cannot perceive it any more. So, there’s a fluidity of the movements and the spirit. However, a door can be although closed physically we know that it’s opened. The space which separates what we hear of what we listen to is symbolized by this door. Did we hear him or did listen to ?

Besides, it also exists through the door, the symbolism of the passage. It’s the meaning of “other” space or state. So, in certain churches, there’re architectural symbols revealing the passage of the ground world to the celestial world. Many cathedrals possess their ” door of the deaths ” by which passed the body of the deceased. We can also evoke the door of the harem, the door at the freemasons, the holy doors in Rome, etc. … All these doors prepare us for a state of mind allowing us to live in consciousness a particular time.

Finally, we cannot speak about door, without speaking about key. The key, it’s ourselves. The one that materially we put on our doors and that immaterial that we put in our hearts. To us to shape her and to dare.

Light & Love,

This is so true…how many times do people say they want something in life, when the door is already opened for them. Fear, as usual, holds them back, and thus they keep telling themselves they have a dream and that they’ll make it come true….but what are they waiting for?? I’m guilty of this holding back myself, but more and more I try to make myself go through the open doors, because more times than not it is fear holding me back and not a legit reason!

Keep the quotes coming PC =)

Jojo December 15, 2009 at 2:58 pm

I am amazed about synchronocity, or coincidences … this morning, I was reflecting on this. “Happiness is not to obtain what I want but to want what I have.” So, the door is opened! To have the awareness that what I desire I have now is a notion that is considered foolish in a society that says that happiness grows each time we acquire more and more material things, or that we achieve material steps. Happiness or completion has nothing to do with material views, results. That conviction that we have to purchase, to perform, to gain projects us in a spiral of non satisfied desires, or having to find doors and working on having to open them. But the person who knows deeply that she has all, that the door is opened, that there is no doors, can break that vicious cycle. She is satisfied with wanting what she has. What that awareness that the door is opened, that I have it all now changes the way I go my path, the energy in which I walk. I do not have to pound on nothing, to open nothing, to acquire nothing, I just have to do with who I am and to accomplish with all that I have. To recognize and accept it now, that all is there, opened in front of me changes my attitude, the energy. From where I was just last night to where I am today, in coming across that reflection this morning and that quote, well, yes, the door is always opened … it is opened if I wish to see it opened, if I believe that it is. I truly believe that there is a vicious cycle to break and that is why it is hard. It has to do with breaking something that has been installed deep inside. Like anything, consciousness is the first step … a consciousness that goes beyond just rational, one that is initiated by the Universal Source. I am thinking of the path of Compostelle … the path is opened. Each time we need to eat, to sleep, to rest, we stop a time but when we are ready, the road is there, opened, no doors, just the inner view of the goal to attain, which we can imagine but have to attain to see. With affection, Jojo.

I don’t know ,depends on if I want something from that open door.I don’t think I am one who like the challenge or adventure very much even if I may be lose something very nice ,but at least I didn’t lose the things in my hand I have had .comparing the things I didn’t know I “ll be more cherished the things in my hand.and I believe if that open door is my fate I ‘ll be kicked in anyway.so I think if there is an open door and i don’t want something from that I ‘d have crassed it by without a glimpse.
