Quote of the Week

by Paulo Coelho on January 25, 2010

I decided to pull a Buddhist monk and keep a smile on my face till 31/01 ( always have deadlines for my promises…). Smiling non-stop works, makes you and people around you feel better, and it does not blind you to the problems around that must be solved. Try it. Smile now.

The loss of inspiration may take place in almost anyhow, second most common is artist block where one cannot be inspired to create new pictures of art.

“If someone doesn`t give you their smile, give them yours. Because noone needs a smile more than the people that are unable to give one themselves.” :-)

Smiling is an universal language for kindness and happiness. Imagine how wonderful it would be if everyone walked around smiling! :D

:)

‘Pulling a Buddhist monk’ means to imitate a Buddhist monk :) I think Buddhist monks are supposed to practice smiling serenely during their daily life and meditation practice.

“The guy in the glass

“When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf,
And the world makes you king for a day
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that guy has to say.

For it’s not your Father or Mother or Wife
Who judgment upon you must pass.
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.

He’s the feller to please, never mind all the rest
For he’s with you clear up to the end.
And you’ve passed your most dangerous, difficult test,
If the guy in your glass is your friend.

You may be like Jack Horner and “chisel” a plum,
And think you’re a wonderful guy.
But the man in the glass says you’re only a bum
If you can’t look him straight in the eye.

You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and fears
If you’ve cheated the guy in the glass.”

Thank you Marie-Christine for the sharing, I like very much this poem… so right ! Thought of what Louis XIV every time he passed in his gallery of mirrors in the castle of Versailles ?…Humor ! :))

Absolutely right! Unless he smiles back, life may be empty!
