Rio 2016 x Tony Blair

Paulo Coelho

Assim espero.

ENGLISH

This Sunday, returning from Davos, I was appalled to see that Tony Blair was invited to be consultant of Rio 2016 Olympic Games. I immediately posted in Twitter that I don’t want a person who has lied to his country and to the world, who has blood in this hand, to participate in an event where peace and healthy competition is to be celebrated.
My tweets reached the mainstream media in Brasil and UK. An online survey by the major portal O Globo shows right now that 83.86% support my position. At this stage I hope this was a bad nightmare, and the Brazilian private sector will not sponsor his participation. Let’s wait until May and see.

On a side note, no Brazilian politician made his voice heard. All of them were silent. The Portuguese post above is longer because I need to elaborate more on who is B-liar. But you can always use Google Translator.

  • Dear Paulo
It is just a thought -
    I made a collage.
I would like to donate it for the children of Haiti, Solar Meninos de Luz and the Association Etincelle in Montpellier.
“The Tall Poppy Syndrome” represents the abuse and the injustice of the Armement industries and some governments. It also represents all the military personnel from both sides sent to war and the families that are victims of these unnecessary wars.
I am hoping that the Banks, the wealthy, and all the other people will show their support with the highest bid for it.
I believe it is for a good cause and for the future of our planet.
I would be grateful for your thoughts on that.
    Thank you.
Much love, peace and for a healthier world.

  • Matt. 25:31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.”

    Cabral/Goat = Baphomet/Azazel
And didn’t you know that the goal of ‘World Intelligence’ is to play ‘Great Games’ and to create a one world government where the leader will be… the ‘Goat’??? That’s true.

As I said it before, I do not follow politics, but I do read writings on the walls!

Mene, Mene, Tekel, u-Pharsin. [The Book of Daniel]

    MENE – God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end;
    TEKEL – you have been weighed on the scales and found wanting;
PARSIN – your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.

No one will divide Blair’s “kingdom”. His PARSIN (PERES) is like a ZERO divided into two black holes in his socks. And if Sergio Cabral closes his eyes and refuses to see these holes, he should not be embarrassed that very soon people will start to see holes in his own socks…

Yes, women always pay attention to men’s shoes. Not in my case. I simply followed Lula’s advice: polished Blair’s shoes for some days, and when he relaxed, took them off… then remembered how Jesus washed the feet of his twelve apostles, also Judas…

Olympic Flame is a symbol of Olympic Games, also supreme symbol of God. Unfortunately, I can’t imagine the “Olympic Torch” in Tony Blair’s hands.

    With love,

Vasco?

I don’t think so! If he has any integrity at all he will make himself unavailable. Let’s wait and see just how big Mr Blair’s ego is.

  • Dear Paulo, It is so admirable that you have stood with such integrity & passion for what is right. Tony Blair needs to stay away from positions with respect & responsibility. He misled the people of his own country & his decisions cost so many innocent civilians & soldiers their lives.

  • What do some people have in their heads, sawdust or?

I´m angry of my childrens teacher, she let her out with wet socks in this cold weather, she should stay inside. I will tell her what I think.

I say NO as you told us Paulo.
We have to tell people what we think so they can think about what they do,if they can´t think for themself.

When I´m at work the teacher is responsibale for my children that they have dry clothes when they go out.
    I´m a tiger today ;-)

  • I support you on this!

  • Dear Paulo Coelho, I completely agree with your position. The Olympic Games that were founded in Ancient Greece had nothing to do with politics and politicians and power. They were for ‘noble athletes’ who were fighting just for the laurel crown and glory. Even the wars had to ceased during the Games.

Nowadays, everything has turned out to be a Game for money and fame. I am sure, that the backstage of those events, is similar to what, you so vividly describe, in the ‘Winner stands alone’. Money can buy everything..

Regarding Tony Blair and every man of power, if he was not there I am sure that the SYSTEM would have somebody else in his place! Just another .. player in the International Politics and Power Chess game!

    Espero assim.

  • As an American, I so much admire you for taking the stand you did. I only wish more people would speak out about the horror that was put upon the world with lies and deception. There seems to be no consequences and there should have been.

  • Look, I don’t like Tony Blair much, never have, but I think these public attacks on him are outrageous! I thought the Warriors of Light were supposed to be spreading love, peace and light around the world and not hatred and bitterness. In my eyes anyone should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law, and deserves respect. Those who follow the Christian Tradition will know that Christ said: “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” Doesn’t this mean anything?

    • Theresa.. thanks for saying this.
      you ARE right.
there is an enquiry on, and whatever outrage I hold personally, I must await the verdict of the evidence.
And, yes… this is a WoLs site..
should be Warriors of Love and Light!!
      x

    • I do agree with you, Theresa, on one level, but I also think that almost every situation has many levels on which it may be considered. I would suggest that literally stoning a person to death in the street (as in the Biblical example) is somewhat different from expressing one’s opinions openly in reference to current world events regarding highly public figures such as Tony Blair. Or should we keep our political opinions to ourselves, unless we have something positive to say? In that case, democracy shall die a certain death, for dissent and the freedom to express it is the breath which fuels the fire of democracy and keeps it alive. More often than not, in fact, in order to “spread love, peace and light” – to actively pursue it, rather than just talking “about” it – we have to speak out against what we believe is unjust and wrong. I don’t view this forum as a “stoning of Tony Blair” so much as an open exchange of opinions between intelligent and informed individuals who seek that the light of truth should be shed on a certain current world event. In such cases, if we all keep silent, unless we have something “nice” to say, we certainly won’t be doing anything to actively spread genuine love, peace and light in the world. Love is not always hearts and butterflies; peace is sometimes achieved by screaming out very loudly; and light, well, it means truth, doesn’t it? It doesn’t mean wearing blinders or rosy glasses and pretending that everything is alright. Sometimes it means saying it like it is – even when the truth is ugly.

    • I would like to thank Paulo Coelho for allowing my post to be published, even when my views are obviously contrary to the majority. This proves that the blog is ALIVE and WELL!

      I have no further comments.

  • I agree with Paulo.
As a victim of a war fueled illegally by The United States in the 80’s in Central America I have the right to speak. I want to point out that I have no prejudices against Americans in general, but American international policy has made me sick due to its indifference towards the victims of the wars they fuel and its double morality . Iraq’s war supported by the former English Prime Minister Tony Blair is only another one of the wars The States has plagued its history staining its hands with blood. It is a shame that it was fought in the name of democracy to cover the real interest behind it: the oil. Western leaders, like Bush and Blair, tend to soften the atrocities they commit talking nonsense about democracy, when what they are really doing is TERRORISM. It doesn’t matter if it is a hundred or a million innocent people who die, it all comes down to the same shameful act they are so afraid of: terrorism.
Let’s support Paulo in disowning Tony Blair from the games that are supposed to unite people from all over the world.

    • Speaking as an American, I have to say that I agree with you 100%, Marta. There is much that the U.S. and its supporters have promoted through acts of global terrorism (its supposedly “just wars”) over the years, but democracy – genuine democracy – has never been part of the real agenda. We don’t even have true participatory democracy in our own country – how can we seek to “impose” it elsewhere?

I’m with you all the way – enough nonsense!

      • Thank you, Savita, most of my American friends have told me the same, even though I know it is difficult to accept criticism when it has to do with your own country. Look up to all of you.
        Love
        Adriana

  • An attempt to translate in English the Portuguese version.

    RIO 2016 X Tony Blair
“I want to believe that it was nothing but a nightmare at the end of the week- when I opened the newspaper O Globo on Sunday – I was horrified – A picture of Tony Blair, receiving the No 10 shirt of the Brazilian Selection , together with an invitation as a consultant for the 2016 Olympic Games. Indignant, I sent 4 or 5 messages onto Twitter that were re-transmitted to World Agencies 9skuch as EFE or ANSA). Amongst a lot of invitations for interviews – was the one from the BBC – I refused them all- because one cannot explain the inexplicable -
I am sure that the Brazilian private sector will support the people of our country “na” organisation of the Olympic Games of 2016.
Straight after my messages on Tweeter, the newspaper O Globo conducted a survey – with a question – “Do you approve of the ex-Prime Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair be a consultant of the Olympic Games of 2016 in Rio?”
An overwhelming majority of 83.86% (at the times I am writing these lines) answered : NO.
Ao contradict what was said to-day – February the 2nd on the newspaper O Globo(Tony Blair) is one of the most important leader of these last 25 years.
I want to remind you that :

    A) despite the (uncomfortable) support of the Prime Minister Gordon Brown, he did not managed to be elected for president in the recent elections of the European Union.
    B) the Peace Negotiations in the Middle East where (he holds) his only political post, remains the same as before – stagnant – In 2006, during the war between Israel and Hezbollah – despite still – he became Prime Minister of England – He was severely criticised by the International Media for never asking for an immediate ceased-fire.
    C) They are still investigating the insane decision for invading Irak (Chalcot Commission of Inquiry). A few minutes ago, a report from the Reuters Agency, advise that a Minister of his Government, Claire Short said that in 2003, Blair lied to the Public and the Members of Government.
    D) His indication of disapproval in Great Britain is closed to 90% (a conservative estimate). There must not be too much difference in the rest of the world.

Even yesterday a bomb killed a dozen of travellers in Bagdad.Yes, Blair , does not only “estava sozinho nessa” insanity , , mas o “Outro” but on top of that, he was invited as a consultant.
And this is the man we want to associate with the Olympic Games of 2016?
I could go on about that subject but it will make this case a big nonsense to pursue that line.
The Brazilian business men are not going to waste money and prestige with Tony Blair as it was said to-day on the radio CBN.
No one in their conscience will offer an investment to a person who has so much dirty blood.

Till May. The people who are responsible for contacting Tony Blair will hear that they cannot have a worse Ambassador for the event.
    At least, I hope”

  • I see the Olympics as a place where people strive to be the best they can be, work tirelessly for that one time, where they are proclaimed the best in the world. For so many sports it has nothing to do with money, but all to do with integrity, with discipline, with striving to be the most that you can be. Blair and Bush’s reasons for going to war in Iraq don’t constitute the diligence, the Olympic standard, you can’t lie yourself into becoming an Olympic champion.

  • Politics seems to be just a hopeless mess. Never ending unfortunately… I just hope to be made justice, but I feel is time for the good ones to win. At least this battle. Thank you Paulo!

    Love
    Olta

    No, no y no.

      No, no y no.

  • As the Olympic Games (not the few truly amateur athletes involved) is a corrupt and commercial showcase for US “global superiority”, I don’t see the problem with having Tony Blair as a consultant.

  • I just want to say that there are many politicans and also ordinary men and women that have blood on there hands.
Sadam also had blood on his hands.

I think it´s not right to fight back with violence.
I don´t believe in vilolence, that is not leading anywhere accept to more violence.
We need to accept and respect each other so we can live side by side.
We have to be grownup and get out of the sandbox and stop throwing sand on each other.

What should we do with them with blood on their hands?
Put them in prison and make them suffer as their victims did (eye for an eye)?
But then we are just the same as them wanting revenge, or?

If thoose people with blood on their hand can understand that their behaviour was wrong and asking for forgivness and a second chance.
Should we give them that or are they condemn forever?

What answer should God give us?

How can we have more peace on earth?

I was thinking of Jesus words “Father forgive them because they don´t know what they are doing”.

Do many of them don´t understand what they are doing?
If they realize that, we can only hope they can change.

    Very difficult questions to solve.

It’s a pity politicians are silent when they are supposed to give their opinion either for or against, that’s why they were elected to MAKE DECISIONS!! I agree with you in that the government should reject Tony Blair and many others that go against humanity with their terrible decisions or by omission/silence (as in this case). Fortunately, the mass media has grown a lot so we can know what is happening at the same moment things are occurring. Thanks God there exist people like you that make us realise that the power of words is even more powerful than power itself….

  • Caro Paulo Coelho,

  • Dear Paulo
I am British and for some weeks have watched the Iraq inquiry for some time keenly.
On Friday, Blair appeared as a witness and the world ‘witnessed’ what he had to say.
It was a tough day of questioning. Blair, as always, did his utmost to sound convincing.
Did the world believe? Many did not.
    And I hear your concern.
Let’s hope that, as in the spirit of the Olympics,
that there is peace in it’s foundations.

  • I can definitely see a point in fighting against having Tony Blair, or any other main players from the international political war game, as a consultant for the Olympic Games in Rio, and can understand why this is very upsetting to you and the Brazilian people/people of Iraq/anybody against the war in Iraq.

For me as an American, having countrymen/women suffering from after effects of the 9/11 attack, I see Tony Blair as a supporter of a war-against-terror, a supporter of standing up against a vicious attack against innocent people, and I just cannot see him as a war-criminal any worse than those Al Quidas who work day and night to plan and execute new attacks. Hopefully Brazilian government will realize this too.

Am I proud of the American or alliance’s nuclear war machine? Of course not. Anybody with intentions to kill, are on the wrong path, and are as wrong as any guerrilla groups small scale.

I just don’t see a point in scape-goat-ing Tony Blair. It is the entire international community that needs to pull the weapons down. But, for sure I can support your stand on keeping politic out of a positive sport event, with the intention to bring people of all colors and cultures, into an positive communicative/peaceful event.

    • Dearest Heart.
      I sympathise.
It’s been a tremendous few months of examining evidence here for the Iraq Enquiry in London.
As for Blair, well… only God knows his truth.
I don’t think sport should ever be political.. that’s just not what it needs.
It’s crazy that everything means so much that politicians are brought in… why, i don’t know..
yet The London olympics are costing billions…
it’s strange times some times ;o)

      • Dirty politic Catherine..playing the blame game! In the USA roughly, plus/minus 50% support the Democrats, w/president Barrack Obama and 50% support the Republicans… Myself I am an Independent (estimated 30% might find themselves here), making up my mind case by case. So these are the opinions in swing, back and forth, back and forth over and over again. Politic is not my cup of tea :)

    • It is Vietnam all over again. Maybe the US should stay at home next time? Just a question!

  • Dear Paulo,
You cannot imagine how much I do admire your courage and your firm stand to what you believe in, namely peace and love for the whole world..
Yes Toni Blair is but a person who lied to his own people and to the world and his hands are tainted by the blood of thousands and thousands of innocent children, women, and men including those of his own country!
It is unbelievable that he is invited to be consultant of Rio 2016 Olympic Games and it is as appalling as his naming in 2007 as the Middle East PEACE envoy for the United Nations, European Union, United States, and Russia…
    Love from Vienna

  • Hola Paulo
    Acacio

  • I would have to agree with this call from Paulo. As I am not from Brazil I wonder if I have a right to comment on this but as with everything people are becoming more of a community outside of the barriers of countries. I think that now the Iraq Inquiry is proving that the war on Iraq was illegal and Tony Blair made decisions knowing that the war was illegal; people can have more of an educated view on this subject.

People around the world have been fooled for long enough and I am glad that we as civilians of Earth can start to believe in the ‘better right’ than the ‘supposed truth.’ I think that main point is that this man, Blair, has blood on his hands and with over one million dead in Iraq since 2003 the numbers count up. What message would Brazil send to the world having him waving a flag of peace in 2016? What message would it send to the youth of Brazil?

On a last note; if you check to see how much money Blair earns each year – close to and over £7 million it will make you sick to think of the unnecessary suffering that was caused illegally to peasant people who now have nothing.

#olhapraondevaiaminhasuadacontribuicao

  • B-liar – i love that you say this, its perfect.

Parabens!
