My new book

This is the first time I wrote a book in public (I mean, I wrote in private, but it was like many eyes were on me, because I was doing daily updates in Twitter about my emotional status while writing). I finished this Thursday, 11 March, at 2:00 AM.

In 2006 I was called to my 3rd sacred pilgrimage.

The first one, the Road to Santiago (1986) takes place in space , meaning that you have to cover a physical distance between two points. In my case, I walked from the border of France to O Cebreiro (Galicia), close to 600 kms. I wrote a book about it, “The pilgrimage”.

The second was in 1989, called Road to Rome, takes place in time. It is not a journey to Rome, but I needed to choose a place (in this case, the French Pyrenees) to stay for 70 days. I had to dream and follow the dream the next day, regardless how absurd it was (I remember dreaming with a bus stations, and I spent 3 hrs the next day in a bus station). It deals with the Feminine Energy, and I wrote “Brida” and “By the river Piedra I sat down and wept” while seeing my feminine side manifesting itself.

The 3rd sacred road Is called Road to Jerusalem. Again, you don’t need to go to Jerusalem, but you have to travel in space and time. The only task I was given was: stay away from home for the next 4 months.
I went to several countries, but the epiphany happened while crossing Asia in the Transiberian train ( 15 days, 7 different time zones, 9.2528 kms from Moscow to Vladivostok). I was travelling with a Turkish girl, Hilal (not her real name), for reasons that you are going to discover in the book. This point where time and space converge is called “The Aleph”(J.L.Borges has a wonderful short story about this point) . Therefore, this is the title of my new book: “The Aleph”.

Why did I take so long to write about this pilgrimage? Because it took me three full years to understand it.
It is not a travel guide. Of course I describe what does it mean such a long trip in a train, but the main goal is the long trip to my soul, past, present and future.

My friends in Facebook and Twitter are the first to know, besides a note today in Radar (Veja magazine)
The book will be released in Brasil very soon, and in the rest of the world in 2011. I wish it could be this year (a writer wants to see his/her soul unveiled the next day), but the publishing houses have a different schedule.

PORTUGUES

DEAR PAULO,
DEAR FRIENDS,…

WOW… this a great news, indeed… I read all that the other of your readers are writing you and I see everyone exciting about this new BOOK called THE ALEPH!!!!

I am exciting to travel with you… to Jerusalem… this is a place where I always wanted to travel… but never got the chance until today to do so… I have been to St Catherine in 2008 in December… just before the new upcoming year 2009…. And I looked at that TRIP… and pilgrimage… my PILGRIMAGE…. Which it did proof later that was worth doping it.. as it changed my life… EXACTLY as I HAVE ASKED and PRAYED at the MOISES BUSH which can be seen there. I have wrote about this experience a little in that BLOG that I have posted. In case you wish to read please go to my Blogs on MYSPACE from DECEMBER2008 and JANUARY 2009.. and it must be there ! :)

WOW… this a great news, indeed… I read all that the other of your readers are writing you and I see everyone exciting about this new BOOK called THE ALEPH!!!!

Dear PAULO…. You said that this is your FIRST TIME when you wrote a book in PUBLIC!!!! I know what you mean… because I am doing the same…. I have started my Story here on myspace and on your BLOG too… and all became so much widespread,… now,..that I have written almost 800 pages!!! I didn’t know first how much I write until I have copied all on one word file!!!! Lol Madness, do you think so, too?
I have read the book THE PILGRIMAGE that you have wrote and I must tell you that after that I was suddenly like another person… as I went through the exercises you proposed at the end of each chapter…. I did the meditation…I tried to find the name of my own Angel… and all. I said that one day I would love to go on the same path as you did… and if you remember… I wrote you to ask you how to start on such a great challenge…
My next plans are to find out more about the ROAD you did TO ROME…. In 1989… This is the year of the Romanian Revolution in my country… I remember all those moments…. and I am happy that today, Romania is a FREE country…. I did start a book … about Ceausescu… as you all know…. But I am still translating it, was a bit stopped as I started to write a love story, this love story I am writing with RON, called “TRUE LOVE”… I hope that this will be my best love novel and that will make all the people want to have it in their home library. Lol
BRIDA and By the river PIEDRA I sat down and wept are wonderful books…. I have read parts of them and I would love to can read them all again. I have to go and buy them… as I do not have them right now.
I am exciting to travel with you… to Jerusalem… better say to go on the same Road as you did! I would like to experience too all the beautiful and so exciting places and moments you have seen!!!!
WOW!!! I never been into a TRANSBERIAN train, do you know that? And more amazing… is that you say that this was for you a revelation or an insight…. As you named it… “an epiphany”…. I had such a moment when I was young too… and it never left me until today!…but I think that what you had experienced it is far more important!!!

…”the main goal is the long trip to my soul, past, present and future. “… I REALLY LOVE THESE WORDS, dear PAULO!!!!
Yes, all your friends in Facebook and Twitter are happy to be the first to know and I am sure that that magazine, VEJA is feeling fortunate to have your interview!!!
CAN’T WAIT for 2011!!!! ..lol I see that you made a resolution during the year… not on the New Year Eve… now…. with this publishing year!!! Lol But… THERE’s ALWAYS BEST even late then NEVER…. So, I think I will try to read the other books that you wrote until that time!

CONGRATULATIONS… ONE MORE TIME!!!! and may LOVE BE WITH YOU, ALL dear FRIENDS!!!

do u ever read all of this? you have been an inspiration. there are truly initiates for all times, and this for this time you have been given the gift and responsibility to impart insight.it is a difficult task, i am sure. such responsibility carries with it something beyond egotism and individuality, and yet it is only with the individuality that we can identify with , at this given time. i have the greatest admiration for you.

I am impressed with your work. But could you please answer my question? A man is in the midst of a storm. He lost everything including hope. Now nothing left for the survival. what should he do? Could you suggest something? please.

Reply

Paulo Coelho March 14, 2010 at 3:01 am

this man is not alone. Others survived, so he will survive and become stronger

Margie March 14, 2010 at 7:45 am

Nobody is alone dear Gousia. Be patience. Watch the stars and the moon at night they will give you messages and a little prayer will help.

Anna March 15, 2010 at 6:53 am

Somebody , i don,t remember who, compared the mind to the lake . That was smth alike : Imagine If there is a storm on the lake , there are the big waves on a surfaces , water dirty from moved sand and not clear. But when the storm is gone , surface starts to quieten down , smoothes out . And then begin to mirror all the beautiful views around , very exactly , the way how they are . The mountains , high ever green trees ,the birds on the shore … So is with our thoughts . Only when we calm down a little our mind , we will see exactly the reality around us, which reality maybe is not so terrible , thoughts will start to clear up like that water from the sand and ideas of solution will began to surface the lake , unexpectedly, one by one . Often we make the storm ourself, and sometimes not .But that advice apply to both,i think
Optimism makes miracles . Pesymism makes it terribly worse. Belive me , I was checking many times both methods on myself. : )) The best advice gave mister Coelho.

Márcia March 14, 2010 at 12:46 am

i have a strange feeling now,
i am feeling like; something very powerfull and positive, with full of humor and serious coming.. something is coming over the world of every one of us, to “our” world… As strange as unbelievable. something like the Spring…
At the time no one can imagining it, because of being tired from every point of the winter. Not too late, but not too early too. I am feeling like this spring is coming surprisingly!°
i am feeling myself in these kind of times, like who wears sea shorts, sun glasses and a yellow inflatable duck in the middle of the sahara at a night time :D

I am very happy to read from you every time,
Thank you Paulo,

I hope that we can read your new book as soon as possible in Turkisch too…
