10 SEC READ: Moses (ENG, PORT, ESP, FRA)

by Paulo Coelho on May 7, 2010

Moses parts the waters

“Sometimes we get used to what we see in the movies, and end up forgetting the true story,” a friend said to me once while we were looking at the port of Miami, “Do you remember the Ten Commandments?”
Of course I remembered. Moses, played by Charlton Heston, at one point he raises his wand and with that action the waters were divided and the Jewish people walked through it.
“In the Bible it is different,” said my friend. “In the Bible, God orders Moses to do this by saying, ‘the children of Israel are to go forward,’ and only after they start walking does Moses raise his wand to part the Red Sea.

“Courage in the path is what makes the path manifests itself.”

—————————–

Moisés divide as águas

”Blessings on your young courage,boy ; that’s the way to the stars ” . – Virgil .
Trust , believe , move forward , embrace your destiny , your” maktoub” & the road will be there open for you to tread upon it.. non hesitation ..no reluctance… entire & utter belief in what is ‘meant’…& it ”will manifest”…for only ” the best ” is meant for us..”courage” is part of ‘faith’; in fact, an integral part of it ( with courage, belief & obedience to the ‘voice’ , is meant ) . Thank you, my ”master”..we need this reminder from time to time , to shake our hesitance imposed by so many external factors imposed by life. I am filled with ”courage” now to face what comes my way…& I will conquer ! I believe .. I trust.. I move…. I succeed ! Merci , ”my master” , Coelho .
Immense gratitude & Blessings . Cathy xxx

Yes, it is a LEAP OF FAITH indeed so very often, when you want to pursue your dream and when you are walking down a path that has not been threaded before you. The only way to find out if there is a path is just to find out by cutting away those hindrances and just push through the jungle of misconceptions and false beliefs!
Thank you Paulo. <3

Courage is held in high esteem, but in fact it is a disease of addiction much like alcoholism.

Alcoholics develop high tolerance for alcohol, requiring more and more of it to achieve the same delusional effects. Alcohol tolerance leads to self-destruction. Courage is a similar tolerance for fear.

“Look! He’s terrified, but he goes ahead anyhow. What courage!” We give people medals for courage, hold them up to our children as examples of how to live. Yet we frown upon the man who brags of how much liquor he can hold. What foolishness is this?

Courage leads to addiction to fear. One craves fear and its thrill, and the adulation of those who admire one’s courage. But fear has as many destructive effects upon the body, mind, and spirit as alcohol or heroin or meth.

Bravery beats courage, for the brave do not fear at all. The brave have faith, which does not tolerate fear but banishes fear completely.

“One who has any faith in God(dess) should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever,” said Gandhi.

Faith is the ability to not panic, to not fear.

“The whole secret to existence is to have no fear,” said the Buddha.

My mentor always says… “the worst thing is to be defeated by ones own weaknesses. One may not find the thing he/she is seeking right away, so one should keeping pressing forward with the unflinging determination and conviction. Of utmost importance is that one keep challenging ones situation with hope and courage, until the very end.”
Very well said Paulo that “Courage in the path is what makes the path manifests itself.”
If we are courageous, we won’t be afraid of challenging ourselves to go further than we think and push ourselves beyond our limitations. And thus manifesting new path which we might have never ever even dreamt off.
Making the impossible POSSIBLE is what courage is all about.

Stories quiet commonly get mixed up. If you read the original Brothers Grimm book – the fairytales are very different from the ones we read as children. For example Cinderella’s three sisters in the original story are not ugly – they are quiet beautiful & there was no fairy godmother – there was a magic tree beside Cinderella’s mothers grave. Also the story was quiet dark, as the sisters cut the backs of their feet off to fit into the glass shoe! I was quiet amazed by the difference in many of the fairytales.

What I can see in this post too is that there is one truth which has got transformed during the times.
It is very important to find the TRUE TRUTH, to be close to the light. False trues are just like lots of philosophies who has something true and something wrong in them.

But that is why God’s mysteries when revealed to us can life us breathless and way too marveled. God’s greatest magic is making things in such a quiet and normal way, giving us the chance to see him inside and outside of our own selves.

Once we have made a decision and followed our PATH then, I think, it is the PATH, DESTINY that ..leads us; because there are no.. coincidences! Everything is written in the ETERNAL NOW and in the BOOK OF LIFE!
We just have to do our UTMOST, our DUTY and try to ..transform the caterpillar to a beautiful BUTTERFLY!

Sim.

God can do so much……the ultimate decision is ours, once we know we have choices it is up to us to decide which one is the one we should take.
Today I have decided I want full of light, love and happiness. It takes work because it requires changing from our daily routines, and changes are always very scary. We are convinced all our lifes that we are certain way because someone dictated the rules and later on we realize that we don’t have to be that way. I admire Paulo’s tenacity, he went against the current and he was able to choose the path that fulfilled his dreams.

I remember so much that moment when I came across that text in one of your comments, do not remember if Twitter or Facebook. Since that time, it is for me an important reminder of walking and having faith that Light will come in darkness moments. I have read the Bible often, saw this movie, etc, but had never taken notice of the fact that they had to walk to the waters while they were not opened. That for me is the model of faith that I must carry in my life. What is there is gratitude for the concern, the love that you carry to the other, and thank you for sharing and sharing and communicating the Light with Love.

Love, Jojo.

‘Life must be understood backwards, but must be lived forwards.’ Soren Kierkegaard

Without fear there would be no need for courage. To stop moving, is to stop living.

Thinking about the King in The Alchemist today, full of encouragement during Santiago’s times of fear and doubt.

This reminds me of a quote from The Alchemist

“When I have been truly searching for my treasure, I’ve discovered things along the way that I never would have seen had I not had the courage to try things that seemed impossible .”

It is only through having this courage and faith that we can realise the depth of what we are capable of….
