A week ago I posted here the prologue of “The Alchemist” as my 20 SEC READ (ENG, PORT, ESPA) , Narcissus and the Lake
Yesterday, SeaLion, now working on the graphic novel of the book, sent me the first pages. And what did I see? The same story. Below you find the first draft and the final page.
The graphic novel will be released in September in US, and eventually world wide (I really don’t know the schedule)

Dear Paulo, today I celebrate one year of love with “my” man…this year has been full of coincidences, most of them are realted to your books…this has been a year of love and sufference, at the same time. He is a big fan of yours and gave me all your books to read…(I’m waiting for next)..You have no idea about haw many times (expecially when I had health problems) the exact words, that you wrote in the book I was reading in that moment, helped me. Today I opened “by chance” the Warrior of the Light…the theme of the page is “celebration of victory”…yesterday I had the news I win my Battle with health problems…Maybe it’s real that you are a magician?

Ma non si riferisce all’argomento del giorno, bensì al fatto che manco da 21 giorni da questo blog: il tempo delle mie vacanze sul Cammino di Santiago.
Sì, ho percorso Il cammino di Santiago, ma in camper, giacchè la nostra salute non mi concederà mai di percorrerlo a piedi. Ed anche così è stato faticoso, ma alla fine ce l’abbiamo fatta: io ed il mio amore che oggi, 2 luglio 2010 festeggiamo il nostro 35° anniversario di matrimonio.
A questo riguardo , cari Paulo e Cristina, voglio farvi i miei personali auguri di buon anniversario del Vostro matrimonio.
Come dicevo prima, ho percorso Il cammino, non tralasciando di “passare” dal tuo vecchio e caro Mulino, ma tu là non c’eri, anzi, l’ho visto chiuso, forse abbandonato. Spero solo momentaneamente, giacchè ogni volta che mi reco a Lourdes faccio anche una tappa per lasciarti un tuo libro da autografare nella tua boite a lettres, che questa volta aveva la paletta rossa, ad indicare che è fermèe.
Peccato, perchè stavolta portavo con me Il cammino di Santiago e ci tenevo particolarmente a che Tu, con la tua consueta disponibilità e grazia me lo autografassi, visto che, quest’anno è dichiarato Anno Santo Composteliano con l’apertura della Porta Santa.
Attraversandola ho pensato a Te: senza il tuo libro dedicato non sarei ma giunta a Santiago, perciò ti ringrazio per aver scritto questo meraviglioso testo.
Ma, rimanendo in tema e scorrendo tutti i blog degli ultimi 20 giorni, ho pure scoperto che sarà presto in arrivo il tuo ultimo libro “L’ Aleph” che da quanto mi è dato capire dalla traduzione approssimativa di Google, dovrebbe essere nuovamente del tipo “personale”. Mi piace quando parli di te, Caro Paulo, anche se una parte del tuo essere permea dai tuoi scritti, sempre. Ma in alcuni testi la tua personalità viene fuori più chiara, più confidenziale e famigliare, come nel Cammino di Santiago, in Sono come il fiume che scorre, nello Zahir, quando presenti il personaggio dello scrittore che ha “smarrito” la moglie.
Mi interessa quello che racconti di Te perchè in questo modo ti sento più vicino e famigliare, meno star, più umanamente alla mia portata.
La mia sarà solo un’illusione?
Ti posso umilmente suggerire, qualora tu lo desideri e non la conosca ancora, di visitare la cappella di Notre Dame de la Goutte a Montardit? E’ sorprendente sia come capolavoro architettonico che come storia del suo ideatore, l’abbè Jane Marie Piquemal, uomo di grandissima fede, grande sognatore e infaticabile lavoratore.
L’ho scoperta per caso su Google Heart, mentre facevo la ricerca di un posto dell’Ariège per dare i natali ad un personaggio del mio ultimo romanzo che sto scrivendo, ben sapendo che nessun Editore lo pubblicherà mai, visto che io non sono una celebrità.
Ma lo scriverò ugualmente e con lo stesso amore che ci metterei se fossi una vera scrittrice professionista ed il mio Editore stesse aspettando la mia nuova fatica letteraria.(Sostenuta ora anche dallo spirito dell’Abbè Piquemal, che sento particolarmente vicino.)
Magia fatta dalla lettura dei tuoi libri che mi ha portata sulle strade dei Pirenei ed ha innescato una gran voglia di scrivere, oltre che di leggere sempre più, quindi, grazie Paulo. Hai operato un miracolo nella mia anima e la cosa mi rende enormemente felice.
Aspettando “L’Aleph”…

I watched videos of Hafiz poetry in motion, read two poems by Rumi, then viewed few pictures posted by friends earlier. At the same time, thinking of this post about Synchronicity, The Alchemist, as well as The Witch of Portobello.
Then noticed Carolena’s name and decided to look for The Experimental Witch video in YouTube. And it was there, so glad Carolena!

it is quite nice, although I prefer illustrators who use more fine lines like Bourgeon. Which is really the difference between a “graphic novel” and a good thick “comic book”?
I can strongly recomend as “grapic novel” “Maus” by Art Spiegelman.
and syncronicity – I always think about that part in Brida about the particle being on two places at the same time. How many times have I not thought about a person and when later checking my emails – there is an email from that person?
I had two lovely examples of synchronicity today, one virtually identical to that experienced by Paulo Coelho!
I neded a copy of The Alchemist to give as a gift to the lovely lady from Eden People who had demonstrated the Jesus Deck to me at the weekend. And there was a copy for me to pick up.
I was having lunch today at the Guildford Institute in Guildford. My eye was caught by the July programme for the National Gallery. There on the front cover was a detail from Venus and Mars by Bottecelli, the very painting I had written of only last week! Not only that, but the very part of the painting that was relevant! Unbeknownst to me, Venus and Mars is housed in the National Gallery.

Erich Neumann in his book “The Origins and History of Consciousness” states that “narcissism” is but a normal step during the emergence of consciousness where this newly developed concept that gives meaning to the individual as “I” get fascinated by its power of comprehension and its ability to differentiate. The emerging ego get fascinated by this “I” that is born out from the deep darkness of the unconscious.
The problem starts when this ego identify itself only and exclusively with the “I” in this case falling back to the lake “unconscious” is unavoidable. This happened to Narcissus”.
I guess one have to LOVE BOTH the ego/conscious because without it there will be no “I” “narcissism”, and the lake, the unfathomable, independent source of the “I”.

Por vezes deixamos de vivenciar o ainda mais belo, por não conseguir enxergar além de nós mesmos, deixamos de nos iluminar com a luz alheia que nos iluminaria, por não abrir nenhuma porta ao próximo, apenas nos enxergando no espelho, como se fossemos o único, e ao mesmo tempo esse único por vezes se percebe impotente ou mesmo solitário, por não conseguir enxergar ao próximo, no caso, ambos, não enxergam além de si mesmos, e só com a falta é que se percebem as possibilidades.
É triste, mas um bom exemplo e cabe a nós em saber enxergar no próximo, o próximo.

On his book about synchronicity Jung writes something like, For our Western mind time is a sequence of events, A leads to B and B leads to C. So when the event C happen we automatically start looking for B as its cause! Our time is linear..
Jung Goes on saying, but for the mind in Eastern cultures time is like a web. So, when an event C happen their concern is what other events (A or B,…) happened simultaneously..
This concept is hard for the Western (modern) mind to comprehend and thus Jung call it Acausal Connecting Principle..

by seeing Narcissus,drowning, somehow i got reminded of the earliest memories i have , when i was almost 3, summer 1986,when the family and friends were eating and gossiping around a table in the sand surrounded by the shades of the trees, and i went to the sea by myself.. ended having disappeared from the surface of the sea.well, I remember almost nothing, except one thing; what i distinctly remember was the hand that reached to me and pulled me back into surface… I love you Tania..
Somehow, i feel Narcissus is calling us to reach our hand to him.. maybe we should reach a hand to our ‘Narcissistic’ side, and stop being only that side, what we have learned to be -after all a coin has 2 sides, and pull ourselves back to surface and be reborn again, from the depths of the water ..

thought the same thing when looking how he is drowning and fighting it ….
our narcissistic side: what we do not like in a narcissistic person those features we do not want to accept in us :o)
even though I would find it better that those pictures reflect my imagination, the discomfort & dislike can teach a lot.
for example: tolerance.
and I just love the picture of the flower (giggle).
Very touching, beautiful comment of Annie. I remember now that one spring day we played on river shore with my brother, smaller than me. At once I could not see him. I went along the river and after a truck of tree poor brother desperately was moving his arms, with no sound of voice to ask for help…was in water till his had.I helped him out, and I saw in movies they put blancket on people rescudes, so I get a fur of mine to put on him. I think I just saved his life. The funny was that the fur was white, and it was spring. Everybody on street watched in surprise at him…He must look like a polar bear.

As for my part, I also was rescued once, from a pool. While kid, I was at pool and went on slide, but at end I slip and hit my head, losing consciousness in water.
Parents were searching me, my brother saw a man carrying me in arms and put me near a tree.
I only remember I had a strange vision, thinking I am dead, and two light being talking among themselves. I was happy…thats weird.They said I dont have to come in that time. Could be there were Angels? Than I woke
in a hospital bed.
Sometimes I think at the man helped me, who might be.

Nice, the story was great, so pictures that took inspiration from the story have to be nice too…But I think could be better…My personal opinion, because the drawings I see reminds me of foiletons, serial stories in magazines…Hope I dont offend anyone.

What an interesting coincidence!
People have said co-incidences do not happen without reason.
Karl Jung’s idea of ‘sychronicity’, and the concept of the Soul of the world as presented in Alchemist, all provide all the more reason to be on the watch out for the publication of this miracle of coincidence :)
I think coincidences add more meanings to our lives, as they come as the divine symbol to let us know what the heavens approve of up there.
