Character of the week: John Lennon

by Paulo Coelho on July 2, 2010

Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game. It’s easy.
There’s nothing you can make that can’t be made.
No one you can save that can’t be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time – It’s easy.

All you need is love, love is all you need.

Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans.

I believe in everything until it’s disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it’s in your mind. Who’s to say that dreams and nightmares aren’t as real as the here and now?

If someone thinks that love and peace is a cliche that must have been left behind in the Sixties, that’s his problem. Love and peace are eternal.

If being an egomaniac means I believe in what I do and in my art or music, then in that respect you can call me that… I believe in what I do, and I’ll say it.

Music is everybody’s possession. It’s only publishers who think that people own it.

Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we’re being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I’m liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That’s what’s insane about it.

Part of me suspects that I’m a loser, and the other part of me thinks I’m God Almighty. Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.

The thing the sixties did was to show us the possibilities and the responsibility that we all had. It wasn’t the answer. It just gave us a glimpse of the possibility.

A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.

John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was one of the founding members of The Beatles

Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

I am just 16 years old and I consider him as one of my heroes in this world. I started listening to his songs at the age of 11 when i was seachind through my father’s vinyls! I liked his songs from the very first moment! Everybody in my school find that very strange, they thought I was a weirdo ’cause I was very into his piece of work, they started teasing me ! But for me persons like him are real artists. I loved it that he wanted to live in a world that love and peace will prevail! Great persons like him never die! His legend will live forever! it’s so nice to read this wods from my favourite author, from a person who absolutely change my life! Respect!

Some things have no age,
are timeless…

Sometimes I wish I had been in my 20:ies during
the 70:ies , it would have been great,
but I was born -73 and can only read about it,
listen to the music made then..

still the best things have no age
and survive to new generations of listeners

may it be John Lennon
or Johann Sebastian Bach.

Imagine a world filled with the sane words of the Lennons, Coelhos, and others whispering inside you. It’s wonderful if you try.

Belo texto quando se viveu essas transformações citadas, ou melhor, viradas ao avesso. Quando se quer transformar já é pura amostra do amor contido.

John Lennon is so powerful, like Jesus. Like coming together and thinking about him or talking (never mind singing) brings his spirit into us. So great.

Dear Paulo-this is the second time your character of the week has been in perfect synchronicity with my recurring train of thought-it started with William Blake in April and today all i could think about was this SONG-of course i check and you are RIGHT ON. this is a beautiful example of collective consciousness and precognition in it’s purest form—Cancerian intuition and a wonderful birthday gift! Thank you for gracing us with your presence.

Everything starts from taking the responsibility of our lifes and whats going on around to our hands. We used to keep ourselves far from flowing life, forgetting that we are a part of the one system and each one influence everything. People have lost their motivations and imagination. They prefer just follow whats going on around, support existing system, rather than create their own way of living. We need to rejoice our beliefs and everyday make an effort to make our dreams come true.
