10 SEC READ: Destiny (ENG, PORT, ESPA)

Deciding on the Destinies of Others
Malba Tahan tells the story of a man who met an angel in the desert and gave him water.
“I am the angel of death and I came to get you,” said the angel. “But as you were kind, I will lend you the Book of Destiny for five minutes; you may change what you want.”

The angel gave the man the book. As he was leafing through its pages, the man began reading about the lives of his neighbors. And he got discontented,
“These people don’t deserve such nice things,” he said. With the pen in hand, he began worsening the lives of each one.

Finally, he reached the page of his destiny. He saw his tragic end, but as he prepared to change it, the book disappeared. Five minutes had already passed.
And right there, the angel took the man’s soul.

Decidindo o destino alheio

I wish perhaps if God asked me so..I could make a wish to the Lord to grant everyone the mind of a baby full of innocence, to feel and understand things as God wishes us to..a brain of an adult to think and execute things as capable as Lord wishes us to perform..a heart of a mother to feel everyone’s pain as our own just as a mother can see every other child as her own..a heart as that of a lover that never satiates in loving his beloved, such that all of us be blessed with the divine gift of pure love..and only smiles and happiness be spread everywhere..all around us..it is high time that we need all this for our beautiful world..May God bless us with such beautiful, good things..

hola:

Dear Paulo C.
How amazing. As I was reading this piece, I remembered a joke I heared it ca 15 years ago. It was about envious and selfish people. Once upon a time God came to visit those humans populating the earth. God asked the first ordinary person he met what he wishes to posses in his life and promised him to give him just that. Before the person uttered his wishes God warned him by saying:Bear in mind I will give to your neighbour double of that you wished for your self. That ordinary person asked why? God answered you do not need to know. The person agreed and asked God to grant him an oilwell with a very good reserve. God granted him that and double of that kind to the man’s neighbour. Then he met another ordinary person whom he asked the same question, and gave the same warning. This one insisted that God must change his mind. He argued that God met him first and it is logical that God must give him double of his wishes, not to his neighbour. God said no and the person asked for ample time to think about it. The next day the person came to God and asked him to blind one of his eyes.
Thank you Paulo.

Thats true Sir,

Why dont we concentrate on our lives rather than peeping into others. If we really want to do good in our life it depends on us and just that our situation is not good we dont want good for the rest of the world which gives place for anger and jealousy.

Well said Dear Sir
Thanks again for the beautifull thought of yours

Its truly an inspirational story. It reminded me of Christopher Marlowe’s tragedy ‘Dr. Faustus’. As power corrupted Faustus, similarly power corrupted this man. life is surely too short so shouldn’t be wasted in distributing difficulties, hatred and hardships for others.

It is so true! we spend our time judging other people, when what we should do is make peace with ourselves and with others. If we take total control of our life and destiny then we dont need to control others. we can still influence them positively and help them but we dont have to go through all these conflicts. Reiki helped me a lot to own my aura and energy and take control of my life.

Why waste time, energy and emotion making someone else’s life worse! Instead of concentrating on making the most of our life. I’d like to think in that position I would look for the pages of my loved ones and make their destinies better. Thank you for sharing this!

Thanks for sharing it. Really you teach us in a very nice way that we got your points easily. And i really don’t know why we love to be interfering other’s life, why we use to criticize them all the time.. By this story we came to know that we should always focus on our self… not the others..
Thankyou sir..

what makes us unhappy is not what we don’t have but what our neighbors have.it has always been the same thought trend every where in the world since the times unknown. Nothing shocking – it’s human psychology.
