10 SEC READ The rose (ENG, PORT, ESPA)

by Paulo Coelho on October 20, 2010

A rose longed for the company of the bees, but none would come to her.
Even so, the flower was still capable of dreaming. When she felt all alone, she would imagine a garden filled with bees that came to kiss her. And so she managed to resist until the next day, when she opened her petals again.

“Aren’t you tired?” another rose asked her.
“No. I have to go on fighting.”
“Why?”

“Because if I don’t open up, I wither.”

PORTUGUES

-¿No te sientes cansada? –pregunto otra rosa.
-No. Tengo que continuar luchando.
-¿Por qué?

-Porque si no me abro, me marchito.

totally valid. once we stop doing or trying and loose hope it is darkness that surrounds us make us lost even further. a hope would bring a beam of light for sure.

Wow!!! I don’t believe in coincidenses but
I had a beautiful dream abaut a red rose that turn white
and the rose follow me , it was floting
just infront of my heart.I notice that the rose wanted to be
close to me . And sombody said to me: this rose belongs to you!! She does’t
want to be or follow any one else , but you!!!!
What this dream means??? I don’t know but it was beautifull!!
And I’m sure , that the story of the rose touch my heart
and inspired me to do the same!!! So I took a deep breadth and I wittness

Hi Lupita!
That was a beautiful dream. Did you find out the meaning? The first thought that came to me was that Jesus was called the “rose of Sharon” I guess also because he’s often depicted as turning from red to white because of his death then resurection. To me what you were told confirms this. Check out this passage from the Bible John 6:37 and Romans 8:38&39. Of course only you could know what the true meaning is. Your heart will tell you what’s true. But thought I’d try to help. I’m curious, if you find out the meaning let me know please. Hugs!

Unless I am looking at the wrong screen, that rose does not seem to have much wrong with her.
She is standing tall, her leaves are lush, she has passion it is coming straight out from her heart and she is surrounded by stars.
She is listening to the right music.
Let her be.

Mr. Coelho,
Do you write every one of your blogs? I was just wondering if you have time to write them yourself or do you have a publicist who runs your blog and facebook? Thank you for reading this. I hope you find it amongst all these comments.

Yours Truly,
Alisa :-)

I am … this rose vermellha I imagined myself living in a mountainous and cold place, where almost nobody could get … only people who had known and very well! I suffered a lot for an impossible love …. I survived! Because I realized that nothing is impossible, I was just around an empty heart!
Nobody replaces the beloved …. I do not miss love …. I’m not complaining about anything! I can smile because I lived a great love

TIEMPO ATRÁS TUVE EL PRIVILEGIO DE LEER EL LIBRO “EL PRINCIPITO”… Y DESDE ESE ENTONCES SE ME QUEDÓ GRABADO EN EL ALMA ALGO QUE LEÍ EN ÉL… “ROSAS, HAY MILES Y MILES EN EL MUNDO, PERO YO SOY LA ÚNICA EN TU JARDÍN… LA QUE ESPERA SOLO POR TÍ, HASTA QUE LLEGUES A MI LADO”… Y YO AGREGUE ESTO… “SÍ ES VERDAD QUE TENGO ESPINAS, PERO CON TU AMOR HAS LOGRADO LLEGAR A GOZAR DEL AROMA DE MIS PETALOS”.
Y SÓLO TU CORAZÓN… SABES QUE ES LO QUE SIGNIFICAS PARA MÍ!!!
CON TODO RESPETO Y ADMIRACIÓN PARA USTED, MI QUERIDO SEÑOR COELLO.
***BESOS Y BENDICIONES!!!

Thank You for the inspiring words and image.
Near where I live there is an area called ‘The Burren’ the most beautiful exotic little flowers grow there in a harsh stoney atmosphere…

I really liked that story, not just because my name is Rosa (some of my friends call me rose) but also cause i have felt like that before. Sometimes I just want to give up on everything and, well, just let myself wither… but there is no time for us to be like that, life is so short, and so beautiful, and, like the rose, we need to be patient and let the bees come whenever they want, cause they will.
I know my English is bad, sorry, but i just had to say something =)
Thank you so much for such a lovely and inspiring story.

nice story, but to open a rose needs watering nutureing also, without it petals fall off and die, alot more essential than the bees regards

Isn’t it amazing that as we open up and let go of all the clutter, how the light of love fills our broken and cracked cups…. and through our cracks the light will radiate through to our fellow travellers that suffer. Visted your website and love your ideas.
