a story sent by Nitin Mukundan K.P
A man was sleeping at night in his cabin when suddenly his room filled with light. An angel appeared, showed a large rock in front of his cabin and asked him to push against the rock with all his might.
This the man did, day after day. For many years he toiled from sun up to sun down, his shoulders set squarely against the cold, massive surface of the unmoving rock.
Nothing happened. And he decided to make it a matter of prayer.
“Lord I have labored long and hard in your service, putting all my strength to do that which you have asked. Yet, after all this time, I have not even been able to budge that rock. What is wrong? Why am I failing?”
The angel appeared again :
“My friend, I told you that your task was to push against the rock with all your strength. Never once did I mention to you that I expected you to move it. And now you come to me with your strength spent, thinking that you have failed. But, is that really so?”
“Look at yourself. Your arms are strong and muscled, your back sinewy and brown, your hands are callused from constant pressure, and your legs have become massive and hard.
“Through opposition you have grown much and your abilities now surpass that which you used to have.
“You learned the importance of discipline and training,
” This you have done. Now it is my turn, my task.”
And the angel moved the rock, showing to the man a beautiful path ahead.

No pasó nada.

Me encanto y me gustaria compartirlo.Gracias mutual London.:))
beautifully said.. how inspiring story to everyone. long live!
¡Maravilloso! Gracias por compartir ésta historia. Y perdonéme mí español mal.
David LaGrone, Texas,
very inspiring and motivating tale as ever.
very true indeed,if we do our 100% ,success or failure really doesn’t matter.sooner or later our hard work always pays off.
Everyone is faced with obstacles (our own rock) in which we can either be diligent and face it without doubt and push as we could against our rock and one day will overcome and come out wiser and stronger or else we can push and maybe nudge and give up. This was an inspirational tale. I read and realized that all my troubles no matter how vast and impossible it may seem at the time can be overcome. Thank you for such a wonder story.
wow!! so moving and touching indeed! …we sometimes forget to look for the lesson behind the OPPORTUNITIES that we too often call “problems” ;-)
very inspiring.. thank you for sharing this story
Just one word…….thanks!
Very inspiring. This story reminds me to be thankful instead of being ungrateful for the hardships and struggles that life has given me for with them i am now a tough person.
very inspiring..thanks a lot paulo..<3<3<3

very touching. sure it’s time for him to do the task.
Yeh~Nothing is unuseful in our life.
Very inspiring story, thank you Paulo!
For all obstacles in our life we have to be grateful to God as they make us stronger physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually and always bring good even if it seems like there is no hope or all our work is for nothing… There is always the right reason why something did happen to me in my life…
Your comment goes really from heart… Nothing to add :)
Dear Paulo,
i know it is an inspiring story, it is really
but i thought of it negatively, i do not know why..
that man in the story was a donkey worker, what if he asked god since the very beginning about that rock, he will not have muscles , not tough…etc..
we supposed that every person must obey, then ask after a lot of tries..but doesn’t this also leads to an idea..that we might do things without thinking..and at the end we discover that it is not sent by god..its our stupidity that made us work for no reason..???
I’m not worthy enough to reply you, but want to share my thoughts to your subject.
A person stands in the presence of God, will have that minimum capability to perceive whether its from God or doing for nothing. Never think that for any reason you are doing something for nothing.
Every day every task you do will certainly add some value to your experience. Stay in the present, do what you assigned, if you don’t understand we can ask God in some or other form he will make us understand.
Cheers,
Good Day :-)
Dear rafat, whatever we do we wont be able to count all the possibilities of things, that is availabel in mathmatics only, but in the laws of universe (or the laws of gods) whatever, this is not available, for example: relegions orders us to love eachother and be tolerant in order to have a happiness, now let’s try to have the resault without doing the love and the tolerance, it cannot be, because we dont know what exactly happen in our bodies and in our souls (physicly and morally) when we feel in love, i hope that i could tell you exactly what i wanted to say.
peace and love
Sometimes you have to work simply did not elaborate too much stuff
Dear Prof, Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul and the mind be strengthened , vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved! And rocks, mountains, rivers and all barriers are just lessons during our journey… Just believe in yourself to remove all the rocks from your way to your way!
Luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv you Prof,
God bless you!
Nice story its seems to be how to work for the best result , to spend all your effort the u will find your destiny
Yes, this is what I have just done… the rest is out of my hands…
That was piercing. Thank you.
Wow, this reminds me of all the writings from Mike Doley in his Totally Unique Thoughts (tut.com), so spot on.
And for somebody like me an insight worth repeating over and over and over again. :-) For sometimes I forget that the angel always comes!
This story reminds me of what I went trough. Years ago when I was faced with a catastrophal situation I only was able to bellyache about the situation and the problems I was faced with. At that time I prayed to god asking him everytime the same question:What did I wrong and why he wants me to go through. Today when I am looking back I am so happy that he had this plan with me. The plan of making me stronger and blessing me with characteristics and qualities. I thank god for that experience and every other which he wants me to go through. I love him
It is an interesting story – I read it in one of your books previously. I wonder if the story applies to everything we push against, because I’m sure that there are many like me who also find themselves pushing against God, though not out of deviousness or hate, but simply because we are searching for answers. I think perhaps this rock could be representative of our creator, maybe waiting for us to use our greatest ability, that being the ability to ask for help and guidance.
nice story =)
its a pity you have no Russian translation.
ME GUSTA TU PENSAMIENTO. OPINANDO IGUAL.
Thats what life is a TASK wich we embrace, learn and that will make us strong. It help us to become better humans and brighter spirits, no matter how hard it is.
Yes, I have made the same experiance. “Rocks” disappeared at the moment, when I had learned a special ability.
I heard this story in Kabbalah a little different. There was a man who had it all, the Creator gave him everything he wanted: a palace with all riches, every kind of food you could possibly imagine, and in his beautiful garden there was a huge rock. The Creator told hi that he could freely enjoy everything that was given to him, the only thing that the Creator asked of him was to push that rock. So the man every day went into the garden and pushed the rock. At first he pushed for hours with great enthusiasm. But as time passed and the rock didn’t move no matter how hard he pushed, he started pushing less and less. Until one day he just went into the garden and touched the rock with a finger. Frustrated he asked the Creator: Why did you put me the task of pushing the rock if you knew I would fail and wouldn’t be able to move it? The Creator answered: I asked you to push the rock, I will move it.
What we can learn from this story is that in order to manifest the Creator’s blessings in our life and in our world, we need to give our best, we need to push, to open the way for the Creator to finally manifest those blessings in our life. The Creator is always with us and we don’t have to do all the work, we need to initiate it and the Creator will finish it.
This is very inspiring, the thought that god might actually put us through hardship for the sake of becoming stronger not to fix them , I never thought of it this way.
I just had an “aha” moment ..
thanks for sharing sir paulo : )
we must learn that if we hadn’t what we wished, that means that God has bless us from a great harm, so our wish climbed, and ther in th sky;it meets th harm coming to us and canceling it.
very true……….. :)
That Which Does Not Break You Only Makes You Stronger
i will try to look for lessons from it. lessons that may be reflective to my life situation.
nice message
woow…really inspring!!!!
Quelle magnifique parabole!
Brigitte
This story came to me at the right time, when i was wondering for a deeper meaning of my life. i have been walking the path of light for quite some time now and was suddenly feeling disoriented and confuse. my enqiury was where am i going cause i dont see anything clearly. i have been following my guides until now and suddenly i feel i am inbetween a journey………….
this story answered my question. it did made my soul rest ion peace…………
It has a double edge: one side teaches us to Lessen well, to think and to question why before we assume and do anything. The other side it teaches us to be lazy, not to question anything or anyone (especially authority), not to think or educate or fight for ourselves, because magically everything will be done for us.
To me, this has more (-’s) than (+’s) and explains why so many of us are so lost, confuse and frighten.
I am a grandma and still believe in my heart that I must do what makes me happy. That is why I am here on this earth. The gifts and talents I have are to share and share I must. Working to accomplish it is the biggest challenge of my life right now. However, long it takes me I will persevere with help and love from my higher source. Love & Light to you all. Thank you, Paulo for being a beacon.
Very wise, as ever
Pray Untill Something Happens…PUSH!

L’uomo fece ciò, giorno dopo giorno.
