In search of the perfect leader

A reader sends me a questionnaire in which he presents the profile of three world leaders who lived in the same period of history, and asks if it is possible to choose the best one using the following data:

Candidate A was associated with witchdoctors and often consulted astrologists. He had two mistresses. His wife was a Lesbian. He smoked a lot. He drank eight to ten martinis a day.

Candidate B never managed to hold down a job because of his arrogance. He slept the whole morning. He used opium at school, and was always considered a bad student. He drank a glass of brandy every morning.

Candidate C was decorated a hero. A vegetarian, he did not smoke. His discipline was exemplary. He occasionally drank a beer. He stayed with the same woman during his moments of glory and defeat.

And what was the answer?

A] Franklin Delano Roosevelt. B] Winston Churchill. C] Adolf Hitler.

So what then is leadership? The encyclopedia defines it as an individual’s capacity to motivate others to seek the same objective. The bookstores are full of texts on this theme, and the leaders are normally portrayed in brilliant colors, with enviable qualities and supreme ideals. The leader is to society as the “master” is to spirituality. This, however, is not absolutely true (in either case).

Our big problem, especially in a world that is growing more and more fundamentalist, is not allowing people in prominent positions to commit human mistakes.
We are always in search of the perfect ruler. And we risk to have another madman like Hitler.
We are always looking for a pastor to guide and help us find our way.

The truth is that the great revolutions and the progress made by humanity were brought about by people just like us.
We only need to have the courage to make a key decision at a crucial moment.

no matter who you are either heavy drinkers, smokers gay, lesbian, egocentric or narcist, just stfu and keep pushing yourself to be the best. people will respect you when you are on the top of the world. ’cause the “hero is not born, they built”- taken from iron man 1.

Dear Paulo, “his wife was a lesbian” this information is not a related point while you are depicting a character,it’s a digression.I beg your pardon if I get it wrong.

absolutely….no one is perfect…human mistakes can’t put people in right or wrong groups….Hitlar having the A+ records still gets all the criticism coz of his own set of do’s & don’ts i think…

In order to be a great leader you must relate to peoples desires. A great teacher is one who he himself did not understand and from that ignorance is able to give light to a subject from an angle that the student could relate to. To desire and be desired-maybe that’s what Hilter missed. Maybe he needed to desire to live a little more then he would have really been a good leader. In authority he got leadership right but what is leadership when you don’t have everyones desires in your best interest? Especially your own kind, he must have really disliked himself and stiffled his own desire to live.

Well sometimes what the world see as a standard to determine ‘good’ and ‘bad’ is entirely wrong. You cannot judge a person only from his outer form, sometimes the best pearl is hidden in the ugliest clams. And yet, it does mean that we do not have to follow othersl direction to make it out into the big road. Sometimes every single thing which is different, always being critisized and so. Always being thought as the ‘bad’ ones because the majority thought so. Well, you can’t really be the best on everything, so you have to choose, between A+ records (hitler) and being sane.
Sometimes the insane things we’ve done really did save our sanity from behaving like hitler. Poor him. Losing his sanity because having so many pressure on him telling him what to do. Stupid him never to stand up. And well, cruel people in his society never helping his mental disorder- haha!
