The daisy and selfishness

Warriors of Light must be together. The short story below illustrated this:

“I am a daisy in a field of daisies,” thought the flower. “Amidst others, it is impossible to notice my beauty.”

An angel heard what she was thinking and commented:

– But you are so pretty!

– I want to be the only one!

In order not to hear any complaints, the angel carried her off to a city square.

Some days later, the mayor went there with a gardener to make some changes to the square.

– There is nothing of interest here. Dig up the earth and plant geraniums.

– Hold on a minute! – cried out the daisy. – You’ll kill me if you do that!

– If there were some others like you, we could make some nice decoration – answered the mayor. – But there are no daisies to be found around here, and you on your own do not make a garden.

Then he tore the flower from the ground.

Being selfish and wanting to stand out more compared to others actually does not give off a good result just like what happened to the daisy in this story. In a way, you can also shine in your own beautiful way even if you are surrounded by people around you.

Oh!

  3. Roof Tent says:

I guess the saying “no man is an island” can be applicable in this scenario. The daisy is very selfish to stand out that in the end she has to be plucked out. Sad thing for her.

  4. Rabbits says:

The daisy should have appreciated herself even more. The angel was indeed correct when she told the daisy that she is already perfect and beautiful. However the daisy was selfish and wants more praise from others. I guess she should know contentment to avoid any disasters like the way she ended up when she chose to be separate from the other daisy flower beds. http://www.letterboxesaustralia.com.au

EL DESEO ES ALGO IRRACIONAL X EL CUAL UNO SIEMPRE TIENE Q PAGAR UN ALTO PRECIO…!!l … QUIEN QUIERE EN ESTA VIDA TODAS LAS COSAS A SU GUSTO, TENDRA MUCHOS DISGUSTOS EN SU VIDA…!!!…SOLO VEAN A LA MARGARITA…!!!

  7. Pandora says:

Interesting to me is the fact that the daisy is believed, or supposed, as depicted in the beautiful illustration to be feminine, and the mayor is thought or presumed to be masculine, when either or both could be the case.

I wonder if it were stated that the daisy was in fact a he, and the mayor a she, whether this would have created a different response?

    Just my night musings…

  8. Forough says:

Don’t be alone cause u will be died!

  9. ernesto says:

      EXCELENTE…!!!

  10. dewi says:

of course the gardener isn’t selfish,he only obeys the mayor’s command

nice story with a holy aim.

  12. Afagh says:

To be in a wrong time at a wrong place seriously needs wisdom and luck & luck. means : To have blessing as return of a past good work.Wise man does,nt wait to be surrender or receive a chance in this way,he finds or makes a way to find conditions which help him to salvation , unless emotions have chained his vision on weak points…

  13. Demi says:

that’s what happened when daisie wanted to be THE ONLY ONE. That is kinda selfish, because we are not the only ones beautiful in this world. And with other beautiful ones, we could ‘make a garden’

Amazingly amazing. Direct to the heart and triggers the brain

  16. Tina Halevi says:

The daisy wanted to discover her individuality. She wanted to feel different, to feel special, to feel unique. The angel took her out of her usual surroundings and placed her in a foreign location, where she could have this new experience of being different and standing out in the crowd. The end of the story was horrific. With one sharp blow, she was destroyed because she was different. The selfishness that I see in this story is not the selfishness of the daisy. The daisy was naive, possibly vain but she was willing to risk all in order to realize her dream of standing out. The mayor, in his selfishness could not see the beauty of one pretty daisy smiling at the world from within a sea of geraniums.

  17. hibiscus says:

I don’t understand what this story is trying to tell. Who is selfish? The daisy, the gardener or the mayor?

This story is different from others perhaps because it touches on sadness. I believe that we are all precious and beautiful in our unique way and that’s special. The story brings to light the importance of masses and not individuals. I stay away from that thought because we are bombarded with those ideas. I like it because it made me think.

A beleza deve ser aliada à humildade. Partilhada sem esperar algo em troca.

Warrior knows whay he is fighting. And because, for him, it does not matter – he is alone or with someone. The answer he will be to keep alone. It is important, that he chooses.

  28. There is an intricate and unique beauty that we all possess. We must look deep within to find that beauty and share it with the rest of humanity. If you pass a garden with weeds, share your beauty for they too will want to become that beautiful flower, help them to grow along the way.

  29. Ami says:

I think the message is that we should appreciate the people around us and that no man is an island

If I interpret this parable in a personal way it reminds me that the places you find yourself in, are often the places you are ment to be. As long as you do not easily feel that you are wrong there. And so it is better to stay than to act in an opponent way what might lead you to your own harm.

I made the experience that not to want to have the subjective more attractive opportunity (which seems to offer what you are looking for) can be good for yourself and that you could not know that before.

  31. Miuyap80 says:

Daisies are just one type of flower. If it’s a sun flower, it will still be beautiful alone. Some of us are daisies, some of us may be sun flowers, there are many kinds of flowers which looks good in their own ways, the same goes for u. Most importantly is to be a strong n healthy one.
