10 sec reading: patience and speed

by Paulo Coelho on March 3, 2011

A Warrior of Light needs patience and speed at the same time.

The two biggest mistakes of a strategy are
a]to act prematurely
bto let the opportunity pass by.

To avoid making these mistakes, the warrior copes with each situation as if it were unique, and applies no formulas, prescriptions or the opinions of others.

Caliph Moauiyat asked Omar Ben Al-Aas what was the secret of his great political skill:

“I have never gotten involved in any matter without first studying the way out;
“on the other hand, I have never become involved and wanted to get out right away,” was his answer.

Hey again…well i guess all of us have patience and speed installed into our systems inherently..its just a matter of choosing the one which makes the most appropriate response for a given situation…cant be patient alllll the time n neither can we rush thru always…

Dear Sir,
I’m very patient, but sometimes slow, and then I do mistakes. I know it doesn’t make me less a warrior of Light, because I continue on and not give up the fight. I would like to learn to balance these things? Wait for the right moment and take the opportunity to act. I can do it.
Thank you.

When entering a situation one should always know where the exit door is.

Reply

Graciela Rohlik March 4, 2011 at 6:04 pm

If One do not know where the exit door is, one should look or ask.. there plenty of nice warriors out there that will help one find the exit. However, one must know or be able to identify those who are telling the truth and not deviating one from the path towards the exit.

Mehreen March 5, 2011 at 7:28 am

True…But do we always get to choose the situations we are in?

Sometimes it is not so easy to reduce speed –
sometimes patience is an art
Finding, holding and giving the balance in life is a virtue you have to control and maintain

Tricky tricky pretty tricky.
Even worst for a Leo like me. Impulsive, but in the other hand from fear of acting too fast I wait too much, and I can be more patient than I should soooooo…

This was MY formula:
I can’t work a strategy on that so forget at all about thinking of this as a problem, so just do what you feel like in your heart. “IT WORKS!!!”
But you have to take the risk of loosing again, because you never know in advance the result and sometimes “you are just meant” to loose. :)))

Reply

Jenn m March 4, 2011 at 2:10 pm

Wise words Olta. I, too, always try to follow my heart, but I need to remember that I can’t know the outcome. Sometimes we are meant to lose in order to learn.

Suddenly it appeared someting exciting and i didn´t know how to manage it, so it was a desaster and a big problem in my life; in front of that situation I became completely blind. Life has punished me for hearing my internal voice … speed is not good. Think before you act. Difficult.

What a good advice for this time of my life! I have just taken a important decision and I have applied a simmilar way to do it without know this. To work hardly in my new occupation and to have a alternative and personal way to the final of this time. I’ll print this text and I’ll put it near of me to don’t forget it. Thanks! ;)

1.
“I have never gotten involved in any matter without first studying the way out;

2.“on the other hand, I have never become involved and wanted to get out right away,” was his answer.

My former comment for this post was 30 June 2009! We have made a … circle; but also a .. spiral upwards!! Blessings.

The first reminds me of my logical attitude: to have and think in advance for the … second best.. option! The LAWYER’S thought: to think always ‘and then???’ and to think always ‘quicker’ than your ‘opponent’.

The 2 is the RIGHT OF CHOICE, which must be exercised WISELY. ;-))
