DIOS TE CUIDE.

great story !!
sometimes we think that signs are suppose to choose us , so we stop making important decisions ,,then expect our lives to go the way we want.

Paulo, I love this story!!!!

I actually came across this story a few years back, I know it slightly different…
I remember sitting with my sister and 2 brothers, laughing over it, laughing because we saw ourselves as the man in some situations in our lives and how we completely missed the signs and lead to missing opportunities…

It is so true, we do sometimes think that a sign will come in a form of some huge miracle, not only that, but, we expect that the signs will be clear cut with an actually answer to what we are looking for…

When we sat, laughing, we reminisced over a childhood memory..You see, in August, in Montreal there is a procession that takes place for the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. We attended the mass and at the end of the mass, my mom took us to the front of the church to give a small donation. We had place our donation in a statue that represented the Virgin Mary, once the coin was placed, the statue would nod it’s head as a sign of a Thank you. So, my mom handed the coin to my little brother, in an excitement, told him, “when you place the money, the Virgin Mary will say Thank You.” Well, imagine the disappointed of a 6 year old when the statue did not actually speak and say, “Thank You.” He went crying to my mom, “She did not Thank Me.”

We expect so much more than just the simplicity of everything around us that we end missing out on opportunities. Although I have learned and am so much more attentive to my signs (they have actually guided me on this personal journey), I am still and will probably always be learning!

The Buddha said to Subhuti: “In a place where there is something that can be distinguished by signs, in that place there is deception. If you can see the signless nature of signs, then you can see the Tathagata.”

I think, s/he who knows the fullness (of the self), the signs and the aims, is also familiar with the emptiness (empty, free from the self), the signlessness and the aimlessness.

Dear Paulo,
When I came onto the blog, a few years back, I had no idea about the impact this was going to be for me except that I was going to be on it for a long time.

The experiences you shared- the one related with mental illness was of particular interest for me – It happened to me as well – I did not want to take medicines, I had the example with one of my relative and I realised this was stress-related,. I knew ,unconsciously ,If I apply myself to it – I was in good hands here with your help – I can beat it as well and ,this is a dream of mine, maybe do something about it with you to help others who are going through traumatic events in their lives.

The way the articles were put together so cleverly and also how instructive they were. I have never learned so much as here in my life. It was a compulsory daily attendance,

I learned a lot about my shortcomings and my good points I was unable to see them before,
I was scared for long periods and it was a bit of a struggle to restore my sanity. I found I had to recompose myself time and time again,
Most of the information I had never heard of. ..well.I found myself getting an education as well during the journey. I am so grateful for that encounter with the arts and other aspects of religions, learning to read other languages and becoming interested in the link between languages as well, and you allowing me to do translations. I enjoyed the humour as well very much.

You are the best teacher I have ever had,
Thank you for sharing and giving your time tiressly.
I hope to have the opportunity to speak with you.
I love you,

Marie-Christine

I loved it dear Paulo. Ken, so aweeeeeeeeesome drawings. :)

I <3 signs. Just gotta be careful sometimes WHO sends signs and for WHAT purpose. Sometimes it can be the devil. Sometimes an angel. Distinguishing between those two is the exercise. God is testing us in many ways :) And, yeah, I'm sure s/he's having a lot of fun as well as sorrow by doing this :)

Wasn’t the guy in your story supposed to die after all? What’s the point of signs if nobody can escape death?
For some reasons, I deliberately choose to ignore and never listen to what you’re calling the language of signs.
I don’t.

kamy February 25, 2012 at 10:32 pm

I had a premonitory dream at a time when my father’s health was excellent and nobody suspected that he was going to die in two years time. It’s so painful for me to tell the dream but I’ll try to sum it up briefly. I saw an entity chasing my father and as I was driving his car and he was sitting in the front passenger’s seat, he was begging me to save him but I was almost certain that it was almost impossible to escape from that entity and would sooner or later stop; as I was slowing down I said to him: ‘I can’t drive YOUR car!’

The following day I told the dream to my father but I couldn’t guess that it was death that I saw in the dream. I understood that there was an imminent danger threatening him and tried to warn him but never death occurred to my mind.
He listened to me and made a medical checkup. Diabetes misled my father to the deadly disease I believe just started to develop at that time. Almost 2 years later, I was the first person in the family to be told that my father had only 3 months to live. He passed away 8 months later.
It was devastating to me as I thought maybe I could save him. I couldn’t.
What’s the point of having signs or premonitory dreams if in the end we can do absolutely nothing?

Olta Canka February 21, 2012 at 7:03 pm

Signs, are there to show us things we AREN’T seeing, not things we already know, so it takes HUMILITY to follow them.
The humility of knowing that YOU DON’T KNOW.

Life is full of mysteries and new things to teach to you… that you have no idea about.

I was happy, for from the beginning, it make my mood good. You are good story teller, and is different hearing with intonation, and drawings. I knew the sorry ( from that blog), but stood till end to hear again how it went…Was a nice break…THANK YOU
The story gives many things to think about

Yes to learn the language of signs is a journey of itself. I follow my gutfeeling often ….. my mind always want to interfere though and my mind want me to doubt the signs *LOL*.
So if I follow my first feeling about the sign usually are the correct one.

My very good friend and mentor died this last weekend. It has not been an easy thing to accept because it was so sudden…unexpected. However the signs that God and my friend have been placing before me and around me have helped me to realize that that he is doing okay in his new/old “familiar” surroundings.

I know for certain, (i was there for a short time,) that he is loved and well taken care of…. I was just concerned that he was okay with it all. He iS happy and will be there ready to welcome us with open arms when we arrive he and his signs say so. :-).

(((LOVE))) and many beautiful signs lighten your path,

Hi Paulo, Did you ever read Science-Fiction when growing up? For example books by Arthur C. Clarke and Isaac Asimov. I went through science-fiction before I read my first book written by you. In some way I’m not surprised and feel a connection. What do you think? Do people tell they have read other style books before reading your books?

Lovely vídeo about signs that are always there for us to hear them and use our intuition to follow them or not. To make a long story short I have learned to see the signs ever since a child but never understood this gift , I am not spiritualist but humanist, however 7 years ago one of the sign was very clear to me. I didn’t follow it but never forgot it when a specific event that changed my life happened. This event was bad for me at that time but because of my experience reading the signs I finally understood it and somehow it leaded me to meet My Aleph on the street , in the eyes of a woman that I know is met, it sounds crazy but this first sign lead me for this in real life, and I knew my life would change again. It did and does all the times, for better or for worse depending on my choices but I am learning to control all of this , this wad an absolutely amazing event that leaded me to this other one . I hope all people can learn to see and read the signs and your book will teach them and hopefully inspire them to open their own senses, not for earning money as signs are unuseful for fortune tellers , but for their own well being. The signs made me write and post, normally I would never expose my thoughts in the net. But the other event I mentioned before asked me to, in fact : you asked for. Take care and bless you all !

Dear Paulo,

Loved your story about signs. I have a question about how to tell the difference between a sign and giving up on what you want? For example, if I want something really bad and I face an obstacle, do I take that as a sign not to go forward or I should persist till I get what I want.

Much love and respect.

Obstacles can be good signs I think. They show you that you are on the way to your dream. Usually all ways that lead to someone’s dream contain obstacles. I would be suspicious if no osbtacles would turn up. So maybe try to see it like that. Or maybe it just means that you should turn left or right instead of straight ahead, which doesn’t mean you should give up following your dream but maybe in order to walk around the obstacle, step to the side, walk on the sidewalk for a while. There can be so many positive answers to obstacles :)

Hello Paulo. Thank you so much for saying that the language of signs is like learning a new language. You learn by making mistakes! Phew! I get signs often, like flickering of lights, things breaking suddenly, etc… but I miss the meaning very often, and made huge mistakes along the way. I’m still learning this language because they are very vague, and puzzling as what it is pointing at. But now that i have made huge mistakes, twice, I learned what the signs mean, and next time, I will drop everything and listen to the signs! it’s so encouraging to know that you are saying the same thing! Thanks Paulo for sharing your experience! I love your vidcasts, I will watch it every week!!! xoxo

Very strange after I looked at your video earlier this morning, I said out loud in my kitchen “Signs!!! Signs!!!! SIGNS!!!”, because I have followed them for many decades… I wasn’t really expecting anyone or anything to answer, but then I noticed, a 2 litre milk carton with a green plastic, screw top lid kept banging up and down, seemingly by itself.

At first I thought I was hallucinating, so I called to my daughter who was off school sick, and she saw it also, it was rising up, and banging down … she got a bit freaked and grabbed it and screwed it shut.

In all my tea making life I have never seen this before… so a sign for me, but I am still trying to work out its meaning!

We ask for signs to tell us if we will find the big love of our life or become rich and healthy, lucky or unlucky? Yes, a friend asked me last week; “Do you believe in signs?” She is in love, and although the man hadn’t contacted her in several days, she tried to find an answer if he is the man for her or not. Well, she saw signs, the place where he was from kept popping up to remind her of him. She went to a funeral, and there was a song, the very song pointing to the band he plays in. What could it mean? She wanted to send him a text right away. No, no the lady friends told her, do not chase him or you scare him away. But she is so intense in love with him, she must have him in her possession. She pulls up a photo of her and him, that she cropped from a group picture, which now looks like a romantic shot of the two of them.. She creates her own signs, to convince herself this is love and capture this that she wants so bad. We, her lady friends tell her, no, no the photo thing is crazy. She is leaving reality to force the signs in her direction.. And we all have a good laugh about how silly love make us.

I do think the signs are given us to show us direction and help us make choices. Not quite like traffic lights saying stop, get ready, go, but more like little hints, come play with me, danger danger ahead or this and this will soon take place in your life. I do admire the whole reading the stars. But I have never paid to have my fortune told. Just as you say, pay attention, follow your heart..

In Paulo’s “Eleven Minutes”, Maria wrote in her diary a story of a woman who was so much in love with a beautiful bird, that she set a trap for him and put him in a cage, but after a while, the lady lost interest and didn’t care much for her bird. The bird was also very sad to be unable to fly free and died.

M Christine G.

Such a great podcast about the Language of signs..
great illustrations also, Ken, awesome, again loved it!
this story is coinciding with a thought of a friend, that signs are put there from God/Universe/you choose who, so that this guy up there/whoever this is has fun with us and sighs: ‘Keep ‘em Guessing’.. it was meant for a joke this thought, but, I loved the idea of a God who has fun :)

well, sometimes being sensible is the thing that does the trick… choosing to get on that helicopter rathen than wait for a ‘miracle’ up there in the roof with your head up trying to breathe..

since you talk about signs,
well this is another sign in another kind of language : <3

Annie February 21, 2012 at 12:24 pm

It’s interesting though that God may be funny or have fun and be joyful, but the concept most have is Jesus on the cross, or that one can attain enlightenment through sacrifice or suffering, something so very sad in contrast God’s beauty which is allover around us.. all this world made so beautiful so that we are sad?……that’s not sensible again…

Wonderful day to you!

Barbara Z February 21, 2012 at 7:02 pm

Such a beautiful thought Annie!! A joyful God with a sense of humour, maybe even giggling sometimes :) Yes – why not?

Heimo Kruschinski February 21, 2012 at 10:02 pm

Yes Annie but thats only one concept. And it was not the decision of god to crucifice Jesus. Supposedly we are created in the likeness of him. Humor is one of his most important gifts to us. The same goes for the grief, as for everything else. No one knows what God is, what he wants or expects of us. Anyone who says otherwise is in my opinion, very arrogant. Even though I am Catholic, I do not believe everything the Church says. I would believe what the Church does. To reduce God to the suffering of Jesus seems to me very stupid. God made roses and thistles. So is the world. Jesus died on the cross for us, what interests me. Why was this necessary? Why must we be saved? From what? It is not what exist in all of us?

Much love to you and a wonderful evening to all

I recently even mentioned briefly that I do not follow signs. This is only half the story. I follow signs only, but if say my heart, my mind and my character that I should do that. But even then I keep always before me the freedom to say no. Why? I’m no puppet. A sign is a hint for me, it does not determine my life. Nothing can replace the free will and intuition. To say yes or no. Thank you for your weekly column, if I may call it that. There have learned a lot, or perhaps better, you have me reminded of something. Much love to you!

This particular story IS a sign for me, one that goes along with other related things over the past week AND relating to my upset about not knowing what to do with signs for myself and for others over the last month.
I used to say….I am not perfect, I am only me, and thus how I understand will be wrong and flawed and I will do my best at any given time with what I have.

I do not yet know what the current messages mean. I keep thinking, that I hope my sobriety is not in jeopardy. (this is where i learned many many of the most recent reminders–this morning there was a story about a man who knew everything, and killed himself.

Going back to internal inventory and clean up.

hahahahahahaah lol Funny lovely story! :D
I see myself in there, esp. at the beginning when I was learning to follow signs. In my mind I was convinced that I had to show some respect and faith to signs and be like that man. At the end I didn’t go to see St. Peter, but I made mistakes like his.
What can one do to angel and signs? They speak too little things, than we try to interpret and build up an entire story behind their WORDS or signs, and when all is over we realize that they have just told only a part of the puzzle, usually the most important one and there is no room for GUESSING. (WHAT WOULD IT MEAN? hmmm…)
Truth is that they need no guessing. If you can’t understand them right now it is because it is not their moment to fit in their puzzle. :)

I still make mistakes in following them but they are much more little. And at the end this is definitely true: SIMPLICITY.
SIGNS ARE NOT COMPLICATE CODES TO DECODE BUT JUST SOME SIMPLE WAYS OR WORDS TO GET OUR ATTENTION. A simple language just for you.
No need to be Sherlock Holmes or pious to get, understand and follow them.

Love :)
