Coco Chanel and elegance

by Paulo Coelho on February 22, 2012

A woman has the age she deserves.

There is no time for cut-and-dried monotony. There is time for work. And time for love. That leaves no other time!

Elegance does not consist in putting on a new dress.
Elegance is not the prerogative of those who have just escaped from adolescence, but of those who have already taken possession of their future.
Elegance is refusal.

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.
Fashion fades, only style remains the same.
Look for the woman in the dress. If there is no woman, there is no dress.

Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity. Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.

Hard times arouse an instinctive desire for authenticity.

Since everything is in our heads, we had better not lose them

In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.

There are people who have money and people who are rich.

by Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel (19 August 1883 – 10 January 1971), a pioneering French fashion designer

Coco Chanel it is an icon of style! Such woman is born once in 100 years. It is worthy imitations. Especially its desire to win. I think to all of us it is necessary to be guided девизом-” Never surrender! ” It was such. VIVAT Coco!!!!

Thank you mister paulo.you do your best to choose subjects that are funny indeed..full of thouts and meaning. In my opinion what we are is more important that what we try to seen by others..Some people are in trouble to what others would say about their behaviour ;but who are clever have not to think so…they have better to do only what consciousely secure them ….because Hell is the others!

thanks you very much

SEAMOS ELEGANTES NO SOLO AL VESTIR TRATEMOS DE SER MAS ELEGANTES EN NUESTRA FORMA DE HABLAR DE EXPRESARNOS DE HACER SIENTIR BIEN A OTRAS PERSONAS. DE ESTA MANERA AUNQUE NO ESTEMOS TAN IN CON LA MODA SE NOS VERA MUY SOBRIOS Y DISSTINGUIDOS PUES LOS BUENOS MODALES NUNCA PASARAN DE MODA MENOS NUESTROS VALORES

Paulo Coelho showed me a different view of what elegance and luxury is. I thought it was just about being rich and having the money to buy fancy things and designer clothes. After reading this post I found that elegance is about who you want to be in your life, the style isn’t all that counts. It was also interesting to read that elegance is not the opposite of poverty, but the opposite of vulgarity.

I love it. Just learned about a new person. Thanks Paulo! Keep’em coming.

I have a question for you and have no clue where I can send it.
It is not a conversation I want to have with the world. Just a question to you, and not about life, but about something you once wrote, I think I have a thought and it won’t leave me alone…. something tells me not to do it, but it bothers me… Nothing much, just a thought…

Its your conscience, which must be still active, to guide you and if you are not comfortable with doing something from within then, dont go for it, becoz u should always do wat really makes you happy from outside and inside, both ways. If only one of them is happy, dont go for it becoz the real happiness makes what inside & outside as one and there is no conflict left, only bliss & peace prevails which is spread all over the universe along with you. Happy Great Life :-)

Coco’s Chanel point of view should be inspiration for woman all kind. The strong believe and discipline made her the Diva in fashion world, but she didn’t stayed only there. She was a creator of a difference in between seeing dress as an creation of art and seeing person in the dress as an art.

The point was not to create some special and nice dress to wear…the point is the strenght you get with only looking at it.

Attitude is your dress..it all depends on with which one you wake up.

So if some say no other designer Channel’s most influential twentieth century, for example every designer an influence that will never go unnoticed.

She is also my favorite idol.

I like her not for the label CHANEL, but for her enthusiasm for what she loved (in her case, the fashion), and for her determination in fighting the somehow unfortunate personal life.

That was when fashion was at its debut and when catwalks were for priviledged people who could afford to keep la taille de guepe through leur fin gourmet, also this goes for folks who are lucky to have charisma and that little something, nowadays fashion is so advanced that your person characteristics are irrelevant ,it developed to an extent that clothes make up,hairstyle can turn you into a goddess and since lots of men are visual ,advert has made it impossible for human to figure out what they want so it rid them of their choices ,replaced it with insecurity and is dictating them what they really like ,so hidden messages ,repeated images through media reinforce the message through the brain ,women walk the walk ,men talk the talk .yet what we see is men becoming more insecure as this is a bait so they build a shield and women become more insecure and they tentalise more as they are frustrated, both are for not being rewarded by doing the right thing ,the promises not kept… Soon all this bulls…t of fashion ,marketing is going to crumble and people will be liberated from thoses shackles, yes fashion ,by expressing those words ,you are more then what you think you are,you deserve it,has defined who is the lucky ones and who is not,who is ugly and who is not.vulgar yeah how pathetic ,you will be surprised how many aspects define this word ,it depends on the milieu you are in…. So fashion has only made two kind of species, lesbian and gay as men start loving each other and women likewise ,no romance just how good does your body fit in this cut

I like how luxury is explained, it “Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity.”

Even when people get more money, it doesn’t mean their taste improves. In all likeliness bad taste is only magnified, not improved. Like in the hilarious “Dumb & Dumber” movie where they suddenly get a pile of cash and buy orange and blue tuxedos.

In this time of word recession we can discover our confidence through fashion in our numerous good chain stores.I think the clothes we wear reflect our personality..and the oersonality we are trying to discover.

thankyou Paulo, I don’t totally agree with everything Coco believes, however some things are interesting. Many people see the world through their creative senses, it is amazing how we all can see things from such different perspectives….that fact alone is what makes us `different’ and we are all TOTALLY irreplacable and different with out `trying’ to be so.

Fas(c)hio-n-ating woman……

“Since everything is in our heads, we had better not lose them”.. a thought comes to mind, that the Queen of hearts in Alice in Wonderland would beg to differ “Off with their heads!”

i think life is more wonder-ful with my head off…
