Vaya, sin lugar a duda el alquimista es una gran historia un buen libro para leer y saborear un poco lo grandioso de la vida, saber definir lo que se quiere alcanzar, la meta por lograr, los sueños que cumplir y entender realmente nuestro propósito en la tierra … este libro paso hacer unos de mis tantos libros favoritos me gusto mucho leerlo y lo mas grato fue la enseñanza que dejo en mi… :)
I read The Alchenmist while I was traveling in France. Going to France was a lifelong dream that I thought I would NEVER achieve. I didn’t get there until 2008 when I was 57. The alchemist affirmed my dreams and desires to have some control over my destiny. It was nice to read and be reminded as I visited the various attractions I had so yearned to see.
A little story:
A year ago, gave a copy of The Alchemist (graphic novel) to a young man. The next day, he said he wished that he had the novel also.
I also had a copy of the novel to give to an elementary school but it turned out there was a strike on and could not deliver. So I gave him the novel.
At the moment he is over a thousand miles away from his home city on a big adventure.
Last night, received such a lovely note and wanted to share part of it:
”I decided tonight was a good night to start reading The Alchemist! And it has definitely calmed me down, and reminded me to feel a lot better, in regards to the steps of my journey. Great wisdom and a wonderful gift. Thanks again!’
Today a lady was over to visit Skiddy, our cat. And she asked about the book. So I gave her a copy too.

I just read again this book the Alchemist for the third time,, and again it always give me the same feeling of courage and hope. I will never stop to pursue my dreams. A deep gratitude to Mr. Paulo Coelho , your always be a great inspiration.

Synchronicity – two days before this blog I reached for this recording to listen to it again. It reminds me of my personal legend and gives me strength to continue when fear steps on my path. It is a great recording. I listen to it at least once a year and reread the book each year also. This book changed my life at a time when I didn’t believe my life could ever change. Thank you again and again for the inspiration to continue my journey.
Life-changing book – read by a phenomenal person/voice – a better combination could not be had !!! I just rest my eyes and drift away – what a pleasure !!
PS. My daughter and her friend got a copy of The Alchemist at Christmas from me and now I bought 3 new copies, one for me as I returned the copy (with your autograph) I got from Christina and two copies that I can lend out to friends. =;O)

I am yet to read your book Al chemist . :) yes. when I watched your video on being useful I felt that we are trying to find proper time for being useful but time is here . It is now. Trés beau conte philosophique, riche en thématiques, le mythe est présent aussi, le côté comique est bien mis en valeur, une fin pour toutes et tous, à développer son imaginaire. En gros un roman à ne pas rater.
I do not know how many times I have read this book, but it is like my feel good movies I go to. I read this, and life is clearer for me. I feel like the book was written JUST for me. I love all your books!
Voici une belle manière de célébrer les 25 années de parution de votre livre culte, que de nous le faire “entendre”. Cela lui donne une dimension particulière, surtout avec la voix profonde de Jeremy Irons. Rien qu’avec le prologue et la phrase lapidaire prononcée par le Lac à propos de sa relation avec Narcisse, le ton est donné. On se laisse bercer par sa voix autant que par vos mots, même si j’ai un peu de mal avec l’anglais oral…
Cependant, je crois que je préfère vous lire, et voir danser les mots devant mes yeux, pouvoir relire un passage émouvant, ou me délecter de certaines pages où le vent du désert nous emporte avec lui..
Un avantage simplement pour cette lecture orale, c’est celui de pouvoir entendre l’histoire, pendant ses insomnies, sans déranger le compagnon qui dort à vos côtés…Dans ce cas précis, dans cet état de demi-sommeil, on ne fait plus très bien la différence entre le rêve qui vous emporte et la magie des images que les mots évoquent dans votre esprit.
Here is a nice way to celebrate 25 years of publication of your book worship, for letting us “hear”. This gives a special dimension, especially with the deep voice of Jeremy Irons. With only the prologue and the lapidary sentence pronounced by the Lake about his relationship with Narcissus, the tone is set. We are lulled by his voice as much as by your words, even though I have some difficulty with spoken English …
However, I think I prefer to read you and see the words dancing before my eyes, to replay a moving passage, or delighting in some pages where the desert wind carries us with him ..
An advantage to this oral reading simply, this is the ability to hear the story, during my insomnia, without disturbing my partner sleeping beside me … In this case, in this state of half sleep, I don’t make very well the difference between the dream that carries me, and the magic of images that words are evoking in my mind.

Li “O alquimista” no comecinho dos anos 90 e fiquei encantado pelo livro. A mensagem deste livro ainda está presente na minha memória, os sonhos significam muito para os sonhadores. A busca dos sonhos é o que realmente impulsiona os seres humanos mais espiritualizados. Mas o importante aqui é ressaltar a universalidade da obra de Paulo Coelho, nenhum outro escritor brasileiro consegue alcançar tantos leitores em tantas línguas diferentes, a força da mensagem de Paulo Coelho é universal, e isso me encanta.

Funny but this morning as I was doing my yogic exercises I was thinking about lead and gold and your post about “unfrying an egg”. I’m sure no one would want to reverse the process after lead has turned to gold,yes? Of course I understand(OMG I actually do!) the context of “If I had my life to live over”.
Why would Santiago even think of another woman after he found Fatima? Why would Santiago seek another Master when he recognized the Alchemist even if initially he was dazed by the King of Salem? I guess it’s allowed the first time:) -being dazed.Why would anyone go back to counting leaves when they have eaten the fruit? Sorry, but I am rambling on…
Thinking of Narcissus and the Lake, it makes me wonder yet again about people who act as mirrors to our souls. What does one see in another? What feelings do they engender in us? Was it enough for the Lake to see her beauty reflected in Narcissus’ eyes? Is this all about perception, only perception? Love content with a shadow, a reflection, an image?
Ufffff! Too many questions here :)
