Hello,
I just finished reading The Alchemist. I Had two questions going on in my mind.
1. How was the treasure the boy’s destiny when it was actually never an aim in his life?
2. Our heart tells us only what we want, like how we want to see the word. That’s how our heart tells us the things. Is it actually our heart speaking or is it simply just our thinking that how we would want things to happen? Like if I say my heart says that the one person whom I miss sometimes misses me too, but isn’t that just what I would want to happen?
Its Borges princes of serendipty though. Pirates everywhere hey? ;) And again may i gentley remind you his success came via negativity ;) San Jordi my home, man what are the chances, the same as the chances we are alive. Take a peice of sand and put it next to a planet a billion sizes the size of earth, is the mathamaticall probability im writing this to you, multiply the fact of what i found, and i love the the closed door more and more, for the longer it is closed it confirms that i’m correct. Take care. G

Dear Mr. Coelho,
Your writing has been an inspiration for me. I recently was devastated with a divorce and started a blog about the healing process.
I hope that I may help others heal through my writing.
Thank you
hello paulo sir,
your book “THE ALCHEMIST” WAS NOT ONLY THE FIRST BOOK THAT I HAD READ BUT IT’S ALSO THE FIRST BOOK THAT MADE ME THINK DEEP.
BUT ONE THING FAILED TO CONVINCE ME
THE BEGINNER’S LUCK.
IT’S TRUE THAT I BELIEVE (NOT ONLY BELIEVE BUT I HAVE EXPERIENCED IT TOO) THAT WHILE TAKING ANY NEW ENDEAVORS THE PERSON IN THE INITIAL PERIOD GETS SUCCESS.
BUT INSTEAD OF GIVING THE CREDIT OF THIS SUCCESS TO BEGINNER’S LUCK I THINK THE WILL, THE ENTHUSIASM WITH WHICH A PERSON DOES THE WORK ESPECIALLY IN THE INITIAL PERIOD MIGHT BE A MORE CONVINCING AND DESERVING REASON FOR THE INITIAL SUCCESS IN THE PERSON’S LIFE.
LOOKING FOREWARD FOR YOUR REPLY ON THE SAME SIR,
THANK YOU
All of this, has come so far, since the blog began in 2006. I love everything developing at different paces, and how I was able to look through the looking glass.
Beautiful! Love and gratitude Avantika :)
Beautiful..
Circumstances forced me to leave New York after living there for 15 years to return to my country and I was very depressed. A person I met just before leaving gave me a copy of The Alchemist and said it would help. It did and has. Thank you
Paulo, when will we have the pleasure of a movie based on The Alchemist? Did you finally get the rights back?
I would love to see it.
Thank Y O U

I love this book! It made me more positive and I saw life in a different light. Keep it up sir! :)
Just noticed how time passes…so long already I read that book…it was nice. Many things happened in mean while. Get some nostalgia.
Every day, thankful to you Paulo, for writing this book, for following your personal legend. Inspired about following mine too. Like Annie, noticed the book cover!
Frank Sinatra said that orange is the happiest color.
Last week between paintings, noticed that the water was glistening – didn’t know what it was at first. So I placed newspaper on the water to soak up and remove residual color. But the water still had a sheen.
Well, what to do? Proceed with another painting anyway, or use fresh water? I was curious, opting to work on another painting.
And was blown away!!!!!! The picture is luminous!!!!!!! Then discovered that the glow was actually gold dust (one of the paints has gold dust in it, and the dust had remained, creating a shimmer). A happy ‘accident’, a wonderful unplanned surprise. Of course that reminded me of The Alchemist!
Cheers to everyone, and our amazing journeys. Love and Gratitude,
Jane
Just LOVE it……………

This video is great. Reminds me of a video we were shown at youth development center. That was about what the real happiness is and how often we deprive ourselves of the real happiness by focusing on other meaningless things. That video is “Life is like a cup of coffee” you can youtube it.
Hello! Now I remember why I like so much yours books, because do mourn,
feel bad, give peace, teach how to love and teach everything
the universe spread throughout the world, as well!
Quién fuera Santiago¡¡¡
Bueno, el que quiera serlo.
Un saludo.
THE DILEMMA OF LIFE
In our life we all go thru a phase where we are given a choice to stay at the certain level where it is called “settled”… “ALCHEMIST” The story actual takes shape when Santiago became self-sufficient while working as glass seller/ tea seller. He had enough money to buy herd and he could stay at that place to develop his business. He was given the choice either to follow his dream or be happy at that place. This type of situation always remained with us. While working over something we become so much indulge with the things around us, we just forget that our actual dream is still far from achieving it. We become used to comforts , luxuries and multiple small short time success that we generally miss the purpose of life till we reach at our last step of journey. We pretend that we remained busy with commitments, fulfilling promises, taking care of our beloved ones that are why we had to sacrifice the actual purpose. We start playing blame games in front of our creator- our best friend, may blame him too for this mismanaged programs. Santiago could do the same on the pretext of one or other, in the name of his father who gave him gold piece, or that old shop keeper who trusted him more than himself or in the name of settlement of his own life. That journey could well be avoided and search for his treasure could be left unfulfilled. But what he did was actual “karma” without thinking about present status or future success/ failure he just focused on his journey for his own salvation….
Nice explaination Arun, we all wants to be in the comfert zones and blame something or other to not acheive our Dreams. But one question troubles me is that, isn’t it is better to be happy with what you have(if a person thinks he/she has enough) rather than struggling for what you not have and ending up being unhappy for most of the life. Isn’t a Dream is a greed most of the times?
I don’t have this orange edition!!
the video is great!!

Follow every rainbow,
