In 1961, the digital future was just starting to come to fruition. And the Bell System had a number of products that had either just come onto the market, or were incipient, that implemented these new computer technologies. In December 1960, AT&T had just announced an investment of $250 billion dollars for satellite communications and improving the network for data services and computer communication.
In 1958, AT&T had just announced its first modem. Springing from technologies used for the computerized navigation of missiles, the modem, i.e. the Data-Phone, was rolled out in a few markets in the midwest. It would be made commercially available throughout the network by 1960. The Data-Phone could transmit at up to a bit-rate of 110 bits per second.
This film breaks into approximately two parts — part I: the problems of the present, and part II: the way those problems could be solved by the technology of the future. This film not only serves as almost the birth of the information age, it also projects that technology far into the future.
The commercial products that would allow this connected, computer-communicating network? They’re basic, but at the time seemed radical:
* The wireless Bellboy Pager, which was introduced commercially in 1962
* The Data-phone, which was supposed to revolutionize business communications
* The videophone—shown as a credit-card-reading vertical two-way television
* The card-reading phone or automatic dialer, which would dial a number from small plastic punch cards, introduced in 1961

Morphogenesis, the underlying forms and structures of life, is still a little explored field.
Alan Turing was driven to his death for being homosexual (illegal at the time). The manner of his death was highly symbolic, a poisoned apple.

When he built the first computer, few were aware of such machines, or if they were, they ere some strange machine hidden away somewhere.

I also worked on LCD displays, we actually made our own, used them as electronic displays, developed electronic clocks, electronic ignition systems for our cars. Not as some grand corporate project, we did this on our own, much as Steve Jobs worked on Apple computers in his garage
Now computers are everywhere. in our smart phones, they run the net, I am writing this on my laptop, within a very powerful Intel Core i5 processor.
Alan Turing also developed the Turing Test, with which one can determine man or machine.
On 21 June 2012, an Alan Turing Exhibition opens at the Science Museum, South Kensington, London.
2012 has been declared as Alan Turing Year.

It was Arthur C Clarke who postulated some time in the 1950s, maybe earlier, the idea of geostationary communication satellites.

Hola! Yo hice un curso de programación en C, con códigos máquina y binarios y rollo patatero. Creo que todos los que estaban en aquel curso estaban tarados (incluso más que yo). Actuaban como si fueran robots. Bueno dejé aquel curso en el primer mes de clases. Mi hija llevará los libros en un portátil, no sé como saldrá la cosa. En el trabajo me dieron un teléfono móvil con pantalla táctil y …sinceramente…es una mierda. Si llamas a alguien “pulse 2″ para hablar con tal “pulse 4″ y digo yo “¿dónde cojones pulso si el móvil no tiene teclas o botones?”. Finalmente utilizo mi móvil que es un zapatón con botones de la era remota porque en mi móvil si que puedo pulsar lo que quiero. Además el móvil de pantalla táctil cuando llamas y te lo pones en la cara se vuelve loco (como es táctil) se conecta a internet al contacto de mi piel y …casi me ha llevado a ataques de nervios ese maldito móvil. Lo he desechado. Hay cosas que van bien en el mundo de la comunicación, internet, etc…pero hay cosas que van mal o fatal con tanto futurismo. Además me doy cuenta de que todo lo que quieren es llevar el control de la era moderna. Cuando yo era pequeña jugábamos sin juegos, nos inventábamos nuestros juegos propios: algunos niños eran más listos, otros más traviesos…pero todos eramos niños especiales y diferentes. Si ahora un niño es diferente…al psicólogo. Si un niño no estudia …al psicólogo. Si un niño se rie o llora…al psicólogo. Quieren transformar a nuestros hijos en clones. Quieren transformarnos a nosotros en clones. Han inventado una crisis de números para transformar Europa en un sistema federal: yo lo voy a bautizar como “Europa de los Estados Unidos”. Y después construirán “África de los Estados Unidos” y “Ásia de los Estados Unidos”. Transformarán éste planeta en cinco Estados Unidos sometidos al control informático y económico. Hace años me leí un libro que se llamaba “Un mundo perfecto” y desde que los niños nacían ya los separaban y controlaban sus mentes a través de músicas alto nivel y músicas de armonía. En ése mundo no había concepto de familia, las poblaciones se dividían en clases: Alfas, Omegas,…Las personas no envejecían, tenían un tope de edad, no recuerdo bien si eran 35 o 40 años máximo. Veo que muchas personas mueren de cáncer y suelen ser personas de edades aproximadas y coinciden las fechas. Veo cosas que no me gustan Paulo. Veo un futuro que no me gusta. Mi familia ha empezado a escucharme, empiezan a vivir de la naturaleza. Ayer cené ensalada del huerto del Manolo y huevos de las gallinas de mi padre. Creo que están manipulando la comida. Creo que manipulan los medicamentos. A mi madre que es diabética le recetaron unas pastillas para la tensión que son altamente peligrosas para los diabéticos. ¿Qué está pasando?¿Les molesta pagar las jubilaciones de los ancianos y se los quieren quitar de encima? Porque esos ancianos cotizaron y pagaron impuestos durante toda su vida!! Menos mal que los hijos de esos ancianos (algunos) nos preocupamos por nuestros padres. Mi madre no se toma esas pastillas, las cogemos de la farmacia y luego las enviamos a reciclaje farmacéutico. En lugar de las pastillas, toma rooibo en infusión y escucha música y yo le hago imposiciones de energía con mis manos. Cuando vamos al médico, la doctora le dice “ves, estás muy bien, esas pastillas te van muy bien, y además el azúcar se te ha controlado” ¿Qué te parece Paulo?. Os pido disculpas por lo que he escrito porque seguramente muchos de vosotros pensais de forma diferente a mi, pero ésto es lo que yo observo y veo. Yo no soy un clon, nunca seré un clon, me gusta ser lo que soy. Y mi hija será lo quiera ser, lo que le dé la gana de ser…lo único que quiero es…que sea feliz, siendo ella misma.

Lo de los móviles es la leche, hace unos meses cambié el antiguo por uno de pantalla táctil, se fastidió la pantalla y me quedé sin móvil, la verdad es que he vuelto al antiguo, lo elegí porque tenía tapa y así no te metías en internet sin querer y no gastabas dinero sin saberlos, creo que son unos listos, es como cuando un año se llevan los pantalones de pitillo y dos años después los de campana, como que quedas fuera de lo que se lleva tienes que renovar tu vestuario aunque esté nuevo, la verdad es que intento comprar ropa que me gusta y ya está, intentando no caer en excentricidades que duran lo que dura la moda, aunque la verdad es que me gusta vestir a mi aire con lo que me gusta a mi, pero tengo la suerte de que los modismos que se salen del equilibrio, y a veces son bastante antiestéticos, no me gustan.
Lo de Estados Unidos no creo que sea así, en la época de la guerra fría el mundo estaba polarizado, los países se alineaban en bloques opuestos que competían, y el mundo estuvo a veces bastante cerca de meterse en otra guerra mundial. En Latino-America cuando salía un gobierno afín a la ideología socialista, lo cual era bastante común porque el socialismo para esos países era lo opuesto al fascismo y la tiranía, se colocaba un dictador que estuviese a favor de los Estados Unidos, podían haber tenido un poco más de tacto y poner a personas normales en vez de a esos mini-Hitlers en el poder, pero bueno, supongo que la guerra es la guerra, en cualquier caso eso produjo una oposición del mundo Latino-Americano, y en general de cualquier país que hubiera sufrido una dictadura fascista, para este mundo el socialismo era un sistema mas justo, opuesto al fascismo, para Estados Unidos, el socialismo era Stalin, otro fascista más, y esto creó la mala imagen de Estados Unidos en parte del mundo. La verdad es que la intervención de algún presidente de forma invasiva en otros países del mundo árabe, independientemente de las excusas que pongan para poner a su favor a la opinión pública, ha hecho que el mundo árabe, no un país ni dos, están unidos por una cultura y religiones similares y opuestas al invasor, por lo que te hechas encima a bastante gente, pues eso, se enemistaron con otra parte del mundo, que actualmente salvo excepciones también tienen otro nivel económico por lo que vuelven a quedar como fascistas, pero tengo la sensación de que esa imagen está cambiando, en el momento que ayudan a los buenos, a los oprimidos, su estatus en el mundo cambia, vuelven a ser héroes.
En cualquier caso sí que creo que debe de haber un gobierno mundial, porque tiene una visión de conjunto, es como un general, pero para que funcione tiene que haber participación de todos los grupos que luchen, en este caso por salvar al conjunto de la humanidad, renunciar a nuestro ego sin poner en peligro la integridad de los nuestros pero en el fondo estamos ligados y si tengo un problema en el brazo y el resto del cuerpo no refuerza ese problema mañana el problema puede repercutir en el resto del organismo. Evidentemente, hay que actuar con sabiduría si no cualquier acción puede conducir al fracaso.
Quizá esta crisis nos ayude a ser más conscientes de que compartimos el mundo y de que estamos más unidos de lo que creemos, y de que al fin y al cabo somos bastante parecidos independientemente del barniz de la cultura en que nos hayamos educado, pero para salir de aquí tenemos que actuar juntos. Quizá cuando seamos uno no nos puedan enfrentar, rememos en la misma dirección y organicemos el mundo de una manera más racional, ser uno no significa perder tu individualidad como pretenden los regímenes fascistas, de derechas o de izquierdas, que más da, el mismo perro con diferente collar.

Change? Yes. It’s happening so fast that we have a hard time keeping up.. But wait. I have an app for that! One of the greatest changes that benefited both myself and my students this last year was “DROPitTOme” an app within “Dropbox”. Students upload their essays labeled in a certain format, and I receive them, in alphabetical order according to class. I open the app on my iPad at home or wherever I may be, read the paper, then open our school district’s grade book site, enter the score and move on to the next student’s ..Wow, here’s a change..students will no longer turn in “PAPERS”.

I consider these technologies as a tool, nothing more. An important tool, no doubt. But they do not change the world, that will probably require different things. I recently read a wonderful sentiment. “I think we risk becoming the best informed society that has ever died of ignorance.” (Reuben Blades) I can recognize some truth in it. Information is not knowledge, and certainly not wisdom. The digital future is dependent on energy and raw materials, which must not be forgotten. I am delighted with technical advancements, but if one need any gimmick that I do not know. The survival of mankind is not decided by the new iPhone, or faster computers. Or maybe it is. The weapons technology also benefits thereof, and a cyberwar has already be seen. This technology is very dangerous. President Obama could tell something about this topic. Whatever. The future is exciting. Maybe someday every human being profits from the digital future.

Thank you for your opinion. Computers are superior to humans in arithmetic. They play chess better than humans. They are not creative, if you mean that. What that has to do with vanity, however, that I do not know. And I do not know of what “guys” you’re talking about. But I’m listening to you.

For your information dear raam. Paulo is vain! That’s my opinion. But I have not yet fully realized what bad about his vanity. For me personally it is sometimes a bit exaggerated, but not negative as such. He is a writer. But there are worse things.
The biggest misuse of technolgy i have ever seen . Human emotions and centiments cant be generated or stopped by these machines . To prove your decision balanced one should not play with words he is master in . You can run away from any place but not your ownself . Technolgy has not designed any such machine till date . I am hurt badly . Things could have been ended up in a better way . I now understand why people reach the stages of insanity . Love n peace …

I read recently, before a I stopped reading the news a few months back, that some of the smart device companies were asking science fiction writers to write stories, ideas etc, about what they think the future would be like. This way the companies felt that they would have the edge moving forward to future projects. – of course a lot of corporations draw their ideas form different groups, and many buy, or pay for that information.
The films, Tron, & Tron: Legacy, focus on the ides of AI (artificial intelligence) and Tron: Legacy takes a more spiritual idea, as it moves forward in the story line – non artificial intelligence & life – formed through the computer/space/God super highway, or something.
Through all this I am just glad to be living in such a wonderful age of human enlightenment, evolution, and progression. Lets keep up the good work :P
El soporte de internet, creo que ha sido lo que nuestra Era esperaba, tenemos un conocimiento doble, de lo que fuimos, de lo que hicimos … porque despúes de la muerte siempre nos quedan las palabras, el tiempo y más oportunidades.
Los sistemas de comunicación que tenemos actuales, son la esencia de nuestra salvación y no de nuestro control, aunque quizás así se quiso, en algún momento.

I feel so fortunate living during this technical revolution, because it gives insights to the most microscopic, as well as far macro-cosmic realities. Creation is so spectacular. Tecnolocy connects us like never before, and can be a way to make us more equal. While just an elite could set the agenda, create public opinion before, each and everyone’s voice now can be equally heard.

“Why in these days of manmade wonders we still bicker over flies”… Quote of a darling poet. Hard to say how well technology stays in mans hands. Technology grows and only one man looses the touch over too wide of a subject. I for example always would like to make my coffee somehow like I boil my tea-water. But next machine I probably need to buy is some kind of a coffee-making-robot that serves the coffee to your bed weather you like it or not :D.
La verdad es que la vida puede cambiar de forma gradual, o por cambios inesperados y revolucionarios que te hacen cambiar de dirección en cuestión de segundos. Nunca se sabe lo que va a pasar después. Lo que hoy parece blanco mañana puede ser negro, y al revés, caminas, y nunca sabes lo que hay detrás de la próxima esquina por lo que nunca hay que perder la esperanza, ni dejarse influenciar por los que quieren que la pierdas.
Ha habido mucha gente que me ha criticado, por no trabajar, por vivir en casa de mis padres, por … por que son así de malos. Últimamente las cosas han cambiado, no tener también significa no deber, y en el contexto actual, eso es mucho. También veo gente que presume por que le ha ido mejor, pero si te fijas bien, su vida está edificada sobre cimientos de arena, si formas un hogar con alguien que te puede traicionar, tu vida está siempre en el aire, en cualquier caso, simplemente camino, y me amoldo a la situación intentando no cometer ningún error que implique demasiado riesgo, unas veces la vida te trae cosas malas y otras buenas, entre tanto, estudio, entreno y ensayo.
