I liked the book... I read it while I was going through a crises similar with the one Veronika had, but I got over it in a different way. Now, seeing life through my own eyes, I have decided that it is useless to "BE SORRY FOR YOURSELF" the ONLY way forward is to encourage yourself, to respect yourself, to love yourself, to do things that makes you happy too. Watching this film I asked myself... why Veronika had such a low self esteem, why she was frighten from the beginning of her marriage that the guy will leave her... If that will happen, she will be free to find somebody else. Life never stays stagnant, it is always on a move, just like a river... I don't see the marriage as I used to see it in the past - one lifetime relationship - the moet I decided to trust in myself, my own feelings, to do not put up with lots of crap, is the moment that empowered me, like a woman. I don't like to have arguments if I am in a relationship, but I LIKE TO TALK. Veronika was insecure from the first day of her marriage... she had engraved into her soul and mind old believes, maybe religious who know, that she must be with this guy she will marry for the rest of her life! That she can not chose to do something different if she hates her job! But when you come home from work, you have so much time to do the things you like to do... to read a book, to paint, to knit, to crochet, to watch a film, to go for a walk, to make love, to cook, to visit your friend, to help somebody in need.... So, today, I see life different than I saw it yesterday - maybe 3 years ago.... and this is only because I CHOSE TO BELIEVE IN MYSELF AND TO KNOW THAT IS DOWN TO ME TO BE HAPPY. IF I AM NOT< I MUST CHAGE SOMETHING, I MAY HAVE TO CHAGE ME, BUT "STOP COMPLAINING, JUST DO IT!" Love to you, dear PAULO, I know in Veronika is a part of your soul, but I know that it is not all of it. You had the most amazing one in The Pilgrimage... a spiritual book, which shows me the way.. Wish you and to all our friend a week filled with joy, I know that joy is what you said once you wish to have and I think it is true, as JOY always lifts one another's spirits!

Throughout her life Veronica had realized that there was an infinite number of people who talked about the misfortunes of their fellow men, in a tone as if they would to help them . But in truth, they tended at the suffering of others, because they believe is made themselves happy and that life has been kind to them. Veronica hated these kind of people . " (Translated by me, sorry if not accurat)
I have this in common with Veronica. She decides to die. Why she isn't died? Maybe because people have helped her. Not all people such giants as you

If a book leaves a really deep impression on me, I don't like to watch a movie after...but I will make an exception for this one.

Waw Gracias, such a great movie. I wish every single individual in the world watches this at least once, so that they might appreciate life and begin becoming grateful for being healthy and having the gift of of long life to plan reaching their goals and desires. Most of us are not appreciating what we have until we lose it, but not all of us are as fortunate as Veronika to start over and have every thing back.

Mr. Coelho, out of all your books - this one is my favorite, I've read it three times, and retain a copy for the future several readings. I'll keep reading it again and again - until I finally adopt the idea, that every day of my life is, indeed, a miracle. Thank you and God bless you!
