Kandinsky says:

Painting is an art.
And art is a power that should be aimed at developing the soul.
If art does not do this job, the abyss that separates us from God is left without a bridge.

The artist owes his talent to God and has to settle this debt.
To do this, he has to work hard, know that he is free in his art but not in his commitment to life.

Everything he feels and thinks is part of the raw material with which to improve the spiritual atmosphere around him.

Beauty, whether in art or in a woman, cannot be empty; it has to be at the service of humankind and the world.

The true work of art is born from the ‘artist’: a mysterious, enigmatic, and mystical creation.
It detaches itself from him, it acquires an autonomous life, becomes a personality, an independent subject, animated with a spiritual breath, the living subject of a real existence of being.

The artist is not a ‘Sunday child’ for whom everything immediately succeeds. He does not have the right to live without duty. The task that is assigned to him is painful, it is a heavy cross for him to bear.

There is no must in art because art is free.

  8. These true words are a touching and great message ,for every human being,it is true because only the artist can capture God’s light and only the artist can put it in his work. The artist is the only way that humanity has to see God’s face ,through the artist ,through his words ,through his picture, through his music, through his art’s gift. The artist can give humanity the truth, the beauty, the dream, through his great sensitivity, his great suffering, his intellectual power, the artist penetrates the reality, the world, and he reaches a magic dimension, where he can see and perceive things that after he’ll tell humanity, writing, painting, singing, playing, forever the artist captures the eternity of fleeting moment ,he let humanity see God’s truth, trough him, everyone can know and see the divine also in this banal and difficult world. I am a unknown artist but I can capture the beauty, the true life in my pictures, when I paint a vase of flowers,or the sea,or an abstract nature,or a sunset,I give a smile, light’s ray, to everyone that looks my paints,I am happy through my soul,I let everyone see the beauty, the eternity of fleeting moment that I perceived and I put on my canvas.

  9. Erna says:

The artist receives a gift from God, be it music, painting, dance etc. we share it with the rest of the world to inspire them to the beauty within each of us.
To be born with an artistic gift is to be born blessed.

  11. Wanbliska says:

Because of the technic and some situations, I may miss it for now. And still animating a brush is different from doing with persons.
Yes this is painful and at the same time: rejoicing.

I am considering art is transforming our soul, ourself, that is not especially separated from us. It seems to, because there is a bridge between the way Sowiety is moving and the artist’s conceptions, which touch something that never got old nor really change through ages.
In real I don’t see any difference with my soul and the artist in me. Just that this artist had to learn out to act, like a role to play.
And just that this artist is mute behind the curtain for now.

    Thank you!

  17. What you have tried to explain her has some substance, yet lacks the

Painting is a form of art, there are many forms ranging through a spectrum of imagination. It is as vast as the human mind itself and sometimes beyond.

Art is power if used in that manner, but it is also visually aesthetic to the eye and mind, and most times does not have to do with “power”. Power is often ugly, where art is beautiful.

Art is within the soul of the creator him/herself whether through genetics or a learned trait. The development of the soul is through understanding of art, in essence humanity and how we effect one another. It is rare to see art which does not contain humanistic traits.

It is far more than art which pulls a man, woman, or a society or even the world into the “abyss”. It is first and foremost ourselves which separate us from any and all connections to any or everything. It is raw human emotion, misunderstanding, fear, and sometimes hatred.

Art most often times cannot save one who does not know how to be saved. It is simply because one may troll the earth with 20/20 vision, yet are blind to the world around them, so even the brightest colors, illumination, and magnificence cannot penetrate a dark mind, regardless.

I cannot say if you are right or wrong regarding an artist owing their talent to God. I do believe for that talent, there is not a debt to be paid because not all people are artist, not all people have a “talent”. It is not a give and take situation with God, or all art would somehow have religion as an undertone (only holy attributes).

All people “work hard” when and if they work, it is the nature of “work”. Art has nothing to do with “working hard” unless artist’ take upon themselves the burden of challenge, the job of creating change, providing insight, curing a problem, freeing idol minds, etc…It is indeed hard work but within it is the commitment to life. For some: Life is Art and Art is Life.

In America, even in the Land of the Free, sometimes an artist is not free in their art.

To say: “Everything he feels and thinks is part of the raw material with which to improve the spiritual atmosphere around him” is very broad-spectrum. For some it may be an attempt to make “everything” an improvement of the spiritual atmosphere, but for some, it is more than that, it is global, it is consuming and it is a bringing forth of the seed within them whether beautiful or ugly. It may be for humanity or only for self.

You stated: “Beauty, whether in art or in a woman, cannot be empty; it has to be at the service of humankind and the world.” This is an intelligent and thoughtful male perspective; comparing art to a woman. Lest we forget a new born baby, a 114 year old wrinkle face, a torn flag, a three-legged dog, the tears of a country torn apart…Art is simply the ability to evoke emotion, any emotion.

And you are correct about the art becoming a separate entity from the artist. Its breath is imagination and its heart beat is passion. Yet it is only as alive as its audience. If its audience cannot see it breathe or feel its heartbeat, it is dormant and dead to the world.

For the artist, the moment they first drew a line on crisp white paper was not the success. The success came the moment they drew the second line and continued the work. It is not the world who makes an artist succeed, it is self. It is the artist who must continue even if they are the most famous in the world.

“There is no must in art because art is free.” A heartbeat is free, as long as it beats, and a breath of air is free, as long as there is air. It is not art that is free, it is imagination, until of course the brain ceases to function, or the heart becomes hardened, or the hands no longer feel the brush, or anger clouds the beauty, therefore the ability.

Thank you for your work, it is intelligent and inspiring.

    1. He Art says:

Thanks for the perceptive and penetrative postulation… I love what you have to say… not just because concurs with my own view… but because of its considered clarity and conviction as well as its positive life affirming quality.

It struck me… reading your response to Kadinsky’s quote… that human art is the process whereby humanity explores our reality… through an emotional sense of connection (beautiful truth) and separation (ugly lies) from divinity… and that is our art…

      Making sense of this
      Fragmentation of the light
      It’s dance with darkness

      Our whole universe
      Is moved by emotion
      Art of devotion

I like to think the more beautiful and joyful our explanation of This reality(our art)… the better it serves us and the better it works… because the beauty of the manifest is its inherent truth… our explanation becomes congruent with the truth… He…art atOne

kadinksy’s picture reminds me of Bunzlauer porcelain. This is an old pattern that people have used to paint on porcelain. I used this circle drawing when painting ceramics. it is really relaxing to paint those circles in circles. & you cannot be “perfect”. and that just each circle is individual makes the whole pattern.

  24. sarah sheridan says:

Artistic expression in all its forms is not born without suffering but its within it, through it and the joy it gives that we can find salvation, the real beauty is delivered without an epidural!! Its our closest connection with God and can only come into form or be recognised in form when we are conscious, therein lies the miricle of Art.

“The artist is only the medium… love it! so true. Some of the greatest pieces of art are created under trance. I love his perspective about beauty too… over the course of many many years I have discovered that beauty is far from being a shallow thing. People told me that an interest in beauty was shallow when I was growing up. I have come to realise that beauty is the deepest thing in the universe- in experiencing beauty, we experience God and touch the divine inside ourselves. Pure beauty is God’s genius on display. Appreciating beauty is in itself a prayer to God. There can be nothing more meaningful than that conversation.
