Two sufi prayers

Sufi and rabbi in harmony

Inspirer of my mind

Inspirer of my mind, consoler of my heart,
healer of my spirit,
Thy presence lifteth me from earth to heaven,
Thy words flow as the sacred river,
Thy thought riseth as a divine spring,
Thy tender feelings waken sympathy in my heart.
Beloved Teacher, Thy very being is forgiveness.
The clouds of doubt and fear
are scattered by Thy piercing glance.
All ignorance vanishes in Thy illuminating presence.
A new hope is born in my heart
by breathing Thy peaceful atmosphere.
O inspiring Guide through life’s puzzling ways,
in Thee I feel abundance of blessing.
Amen.

Prayer for Peace

Send Thy peace, O Lord, which is perfect and everlasting,
that our souls may radiate peace.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may think, act,
and speak harmoniously.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may be contented
and thankful for Thy bountiful gifts.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that amidst our worldly strife
we may enjoy thy bliss.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that we may endure all,
tolerate all in the thought of thy grace and mercy.
Send Thy peace, O Lord, that our lives may become a
divine vision, and in Thy light all darkness may vanish. Send Thy peace, O Lord, our Father and Mother, that we
Thy children on earth may all unite in one family.
Amen.

  1. MyBrit says:

The first one is the Prayer Pir which is a prayer written by Hazrat Inayat Khan in the early 20th century, it is read by Universal Sufis daily in the morning following the prayer Saum and a Dhikr. The second one is also written by Hazrat Inayat Khan and are also said with the morning prayers.

  2. Milky Tea says:

Amen, Amen, Amen! I am wordless now, speechless. It is only my fingers that are now talking. I am disconnected yet my hands are typing still… May we all, here and now, be saved, may calamity be averted, may love, mercy and kindness find its true light amidst the conflict that rages still in our sad world. And the secret war that we fight in our hearts… God bless the happiness that we find daily, and may we all have the patience to meet the rising tide of events. It moves still… O’ followers of the religion of conscience! It is night time, but it is only in the darkest of twilight that the stars shine brightest… shine my beloveds… shine Paulo, you old dervish.

  3. TL says:

    Dear Paulo and friends,
Thank you the prayers are great. I am really sad a relationship that I really care about has just taken a hard blow. He said that he was with somebody and couldn’t be with me. We had everything there the connection, chemistry and the bond also God sent lots of signs that this was right. I have followed the signs and God’s messages. Then a message came up that I should follow the heartbreak. The prayers today are a great help. If anyone has any advice that would be great. I can’t believe that something so good, with meaning and connection should take such a blow. Am I being tested? If I knew I was being tested I would feel so much better. Thank you

  4. Precisas oraciones y preciosas alabanzas a Dios.

  7. Adriana says:

Both prayers lead me to ecstasy and are timely for the moment.
Will there ever be a way out of this conflict?????

  8. Ines says:

  9. salam ammar says:

A translation of a poem sung by FAIROUZ
I believe that the smallest seed will blossom a heaven.I believe that behind the darkest night, theres a lantern.I believe that a heart that is thrown in pain, will be filled with passion,I believe that in the silence of the existence theres someone listening to me,as my eyes watch the heaven, lights gleam and melodies flow,i’m filled with faith.I think this is a very true translation of a peaceful soul.

  10. Ithakka says:

Very meaningful poem…I felt relieved in my mind for those moments during which I read the poem.

  14. Cathy Scott says:

Beautiful Poems Paulo…thanks for sharing them with us!

  15. huma arshad says:

very soothing prayers, which can bring hope in life, but sometimes you are so tired with the life that not a single prayer consoles your soul and heart and you really feel hopeless, what should one do in that situation?

    1. Erna Rheeder says:

Huma It is true. One can sometimes be so tired, that it feels as if all lifed seeped out of you and you are left with a heap of bones. It helps to talk, like you did asking this question. It helps to go to a beautiful place where you can be in touch with your creator. It helps to listen to uplifting music, to write out what you feel and think or to talk to someone you trust. I was in that situation once. I had no energy and was filled with worry and pain. Each morning I went for a walk, but felt so tired. As a Christian, I remembered an orthodox prayer and prayed the words over and over, because I had no other words: Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me. That period passed and today I feel life and energy again. May you find it as well.

  16. Tina says:

To Paul (I cannot reply directly to your poem, I don´t know why, so I have to do it this way)that was a stunning poem;)

  17. suquest says:

    Thank you !
In answer a few lines from me.
“When pain unites with passion music is
forthcoming, beauty and peace in its wake”

    “The truth is my haven
    the heart my home
    the soul my heaven
    and
    the three my haleluja”

    “Between heaven and earth
there are many roads that cross.
Let us travel those that bring us
    music, beauty, light and peace”

    “Let us
    cleans our souls with tears
open, heal our hearts with love
create our lives with joy and faith
pave our paths with gratitude and
DANCE ourselves free, into the light”

    LOVE Suquest

    1. Noor says:

That was beautiful, I especially liked – “The truth is my haven
      the heart my home
      the soul my heaven
      and
      the three my haleluja”
May our heart and soul sing the praise of our Lord.

  18. Violeta says:

God bless you, dear Mr. Coelho!
    My prayers are with you
~ May Love and Peace Prevail on Earth
Let NEVER any child cry AGAIN! because it is born under the Sky, at any place of the only home we have, mother Earth, of ANY RELIGION, RACE, NATIONALITY, ORIGIN….
WE ARE ALL JUST HUMANS BORN TO LOVE AGAIN, BORN TO LEARN ABOUT GOD`S ETERNAL AND TRUEST LOVE OF ALL
    Amen.

  19. marie-christine says:

    Sufi and Rabbi in harmony.
    I like that,
The word is what kills peace when all we have to do is follow our intuition to live in harmony.
The mystery cannot be seen, however it is and like a perfume that evaporates in the air, its scent lingers on.

  20. eleonora says:

    1. Noor says:

Rumi is a great sufi poet and has wonderful spiritual poetry, peace :)

  23. Jeng Dhennie says:

Very beautiful, bring peace in my heart after all the prejudice, the stereotype, the hatred I witness. Peace to the world. Insyaallah…

  24. Daniela Kunz says:

Divine Universal Truth these prayers do speak – found in every other religion too – if one leaves the word religion out and focuses on GOD and HIM alone!

  25. Paul says:

    I search for myself
    As for a mystery
    Which unfolds and manifests,
    Which grows and becomes
which is, was, and has been.
I look within myself and see your face within my heart,
My love, my dream, my cup of nectar divine.
    I am unfolding forever,
    Ever searching,and becoming
    Ever finding and being found.
You are the mystery which dwells in my heart.
You are the peace that I seek within,
You are with me when I cry and when I am strong.

    3. suquest says:

      Beautiful poem Paul.

      The roads we choose to
      find what destiny is ours
and who we really are, so
      clearly show the colours
      of our mind, the gardens
      where we sow our seeds.
And if we dare to look
      beyond ourselves, take a
      chance and change, the un-
      folding of all shall convey
the truth and tell us how
and where we are meant to go.

      Namaste, Suquest
